Played from 2003 to 2006 on iRO, then til 2011 on private servers, until I just couldn't play anymore. No good servers left, but the game will always be the pinnacle of MMO experience for me. Fingers crossed for Tree of Savior.

Right now im just waiting for Tree of Savior and kinda want to try out The Secret World, and I guess Im going to check out Archeage tomorrow but not quite sure, people says that if you dont pay subscription is just another generic theme park.

I cancelled my subscriptions to EVE Online because it was boring, WoW because the community is shit and it's a gear treadmill and ARR because somehow the community managed to be worse than WoW, LoL and DotA 2 combined and it's also a gear grind with a Simon Says mechanic. I miss FFXI, but it's dead as fuck and apparently ruined by Abyssea.
My only internet subscriptions now are Audible Platinum and Netflix.

I just quit my old private server because the server got bought out by a power hungry player so left. I was playing iRO from 2004 till 2009 then went to this private server was fun there but then it got bought out by this new guy and he made all the banned players allowed to play along with no rules anymore.
Left before someone would get my credit card info or anything, deleted my account.
I put all my gears on another character but the server hostile now and everyone running around like 3 year olds on a sugar high.

One of the many amazing things in RO was the fact that item hunting was completely detatched from exp hunting, coupled with the fact that enemy placement was not linear and progression-based, but kind of randomic.
It's fun to sit down and think how to tackle a map best. That's something you don't see anymore in MMOs. You just, "follow the arrow", nothing matters.
To be honest, I think many of this game's merits came from gravity's utter incompetence in balancing, it gave it its freedom. You can see this because they "fixed" the game later on by having hard endgame shit with the good drops.
But still, it worked in the game's favor in the end. Of course, gravity being the retards they are, they did not realize what made it good and let their game die.

I tried RO once, and once is all I needed. As soon as the fucking, shitty ass Lucky Star-tier weebcancer music started playing it immediately got my cock flaccid. There was no common knowledge about the game at all, Square didn't like to explain things about FFXI and they surely didn't explain anything about FFXIV pre release, ESPECIALLY not to foreigners.
It was appalling to see just how bad the game was, it must have been completely outsourced because it showed no signs that anyone on the team not only knew nothing of FFXI but knew nothing about MMOs in general.
