In the Guild Wars universe there are two forms of raising the dead.
One simply takes parts of the dead and animates them magically.
The other resurrects a dead body and shackles the soul to the caster's will.
The first one is generally accepted, although not everyone enjoys the sight, while the second form in considered monstrous.Animating an entire body to the point where it's still recognizable is also frowned upon as it is disrespectful to the deceased's family.

Guild Wars 2 doesn't really give a fuck about you being a necromancy nor is there any lore as to why they were able to live forever when in GW 1, Verata spend most of his time trying to make his minion last forever. Oh and GW 2 has 2 marysues as nercomancer that never use their minion power until the plot demand them for some reason and forget about it after that event happen.
