Here's the thing about 4chan. I'd argue it's actually one of the more inclusive places that exist on the internet. But it gives nothing up for free. You want to be accepted? Fight for it. Prove why you should. Don't think you deserve respect, actually earn it.

I'm opposed to the whole "SJW" party lines bullshit. I like Anita's videos sort of because I do feel like representation of women in games could be a lot better, though I wouldn't say I agree religiously like some people do.
So I was wondering, does the /v/ community think there are feminist issues in the games industry? This drama seems to be another thing entirely and imo is distracting from what actually is kind of an issue. Guys treating girls differently in games, not as many women in tech, not as many female playable characters, etc. These are issues that I'd like to see us work on as a community (gamers) and I hate to see these so-called feminists making it about themselves instead of talking about real issues or solutions.
When I read about /v/ funding TFYC and creating Vivian James it was amazing. It was so nice to see those smug bitches complaining and arguing about harassment and misogyny while you guys actually fixed the shit they're supposed to be mad about. You funded women working in the tech industry and you created a great female character.
I want to see more of that. I love the idea of /v/ just rubbing it in their faces as they do the stuff they've all been talking about. Not for the SJW's but for real female gamers, and for games as a whole. I don't mean removing all sexism or sexy outfits or whatever. I mean just having some female bad guys now and then like in fallout, or having female protagonists like in portal where it doesn't even matter. Just increase the % a little.
So.. What does /v/ think about these issues anyway? And how do you guys feel about doing more good works instead of arguing about irrelevant shit?

Not always. In my experience it's more annoying than helpful, the way guys act. I think gaming as a whole are steadily approaching equality in terms of representation, although we still have some ways to go. I mean, nowadays, you can have a female protag and no one would bat an eyelid.

What about we get one/some of the bigger names on our side (Based Baldwin, IA, TB, etc) to do some kind of marathon vidya-playing stream, for as long as they can last? It could purely be to raise awareness, or potentially to raise money for TFYC, the CCA, or some other appropriate charity. Kinda similar to that Penn and Teller: Smoke and Mirrors thing for Child's Play, except with decent games.
They could even meet up with some of the other other big names supporting our cause, if any of them live close enough to each other. Hell, if we could get some female supporters on board (say, Jayd3Fox) it'd be perfect.
Someone tweet the idea to our celebrities, it's worth a try. It might remind people that 'our side' isn't united by misogyny, desire to slut-shame, or any bollocks like that, but by a love of videogames. And that our desire to defend it and its culture springs from that love.
(TFYC are said they are doing a stream - if they intend to do what I've described above, ignore this. However I had the impression they were just talking about a short stream, as opposed to a marathon, and that they hadn't contacted any of the other big names supporting our cause - please let us know if you have, TFYC!)

Now to be fair, a lot of the stuff posted as evidence of Zoe's influence of over the media is circumstantial at best. It fits our rough standards for speculating about it, but it's hardly a smoking gun.
That said, Erik stopped short of calling out the problems around this issue that have come to light, mainly that Kotaku had to even address what their procedure for recusing is in the first place when people revealed that other writers had connections with people they wrote about.

Ultimately there's nothing to work on- you're talking about negating the biological imperative in males to compete for female attention by providing them with gifts and acts of service. That is what they have to trade.
The abuse women rarely receive by contrarian men (people who either realize that they can troll both the woman and white knights at the same time, or are genuinely bitter towards women) can only ever approach the average level of banter men experience.

It's funny, before they all released those articles about Gamers being dead, I hated the term. Gaming has been a hobby, a passion even, for me, for most of us on /v/ for so many years of our lives. I never liked to call myself a gamer though, I felt like it was being marketed toward me, rather than being organic.

Poster you linked to here - I actually do think there are feminist issues in gaming. Just as we're not the monsters we're being demonized as, neither are all of our opponents. Some people on the 'other side' have legitimate grievances with things in gaming, things that aren't unreasonable and that we could stand to see changed. MissAngerist is one of these people, I believe.

To be quite honest, sure I think here and there are issues that could be addressed. However, I tend to find that almost all the problems are less "sexist" and more out of laziness.
Yes, the villain did just kill that girl to show how evil he is. Its an old trope and while it could be viewed as sexist that the girl had to be killed to make you care, its mainly a developer taking the lazy way out on developing a good villain.
Less female protagonists? Well with the developer field being male-dominated, it makes sense that the character probably is male as its something they can relate to and better write for. They could try and build their writing skills to better represent a female character but most tend to be lazy and due to the problem of the industry playing it safe, they play safe with their characters.
If a boob-jiggles or there is some fan-service, whatever. Don't try to make it more than it is.

First of all, I agree that representation in games is not equal.
But there's a reason for it; these games are targeted towards a specific audience and that audience happens to be white men.
Or at least a majority of the targeted audience is.
It's the same reason most MCs of Jap VNs are Japanese males.
Unless you can prove that a significant amount of women/minorities play THESE games AND have an issue with this lack of representation then it's not really an issue to the companies making the games.
Even when there is a minority/female lead in a game, you rarely ever get mass complaints about it either.
There are plenty of awesome female leads and great minority characters as well.
You also have to take into account how many games these days allow for a customizable avatar.

Bayonetta herself is all that and more. She's also very confident, witty and influential.
