I honestly consider the state of 2-3 years ago to be just about worst period in /v/ history. The memes of that period were absolutely viral and completely strangled any sort of discussion.
In a short period we went through umad, implying, shiggydiggy and doubles which were all spammed so fucking much normal threads were choking on them. It was impossible to have a discussion without it devolving in that shit at some point.
The state of the board might not be great now, but it's a lot calmer and less cancerous overall.
