In the case of Grayson and Kotaku, there's a lot of unethical stuff going on. Conflict of interest, and it goes for Patricia Hernadez too.
The fact is, to the sponsors it kind like don't matter if those are false allegations. They are the real deal, and they don't want to be involved in this. For them is easily to just tell Kotaku to fire those people, them have the wrath of the internet, ddosing, spam emailing them, doxxing and getting other dirty from them, and you know if we keep been ignored we will go to extremes, those people just want to have the faith of costumers, so its a win win situation.
