As much as I dislike Skyrim my treehouse mod home was awesome. I was roleplaying a rogue-y character who usually wanted to stay under the radar so I had this house in the middle of nowhere that was tiny and shit and was literally a 3x3m room

There were some bad people there, sure. But it was mostly refugees from mainland China that had good education. Having a lot of doctors, dentist, engineers made it quite uniqe.
Trying to think of some homebases.
BG2 had some decent homes, but it was rarely any reason to hang around there.
Suikoden 1 and 2 was pretty comfy and cool.
Vampire TM had some cool places, staing home, listening to the radio and talking to the tv.

Was pretty comfy having that Redoran house in the ashlands. But fuck the Telvanni tower. Ugly, impractical and nasty.

Morrowind, Ra'Virr the Trader's shop in Balmora.
I spent more time fucking around in that building setting up decorations of all kinds across various characters than I did playing most other games. It was always my home base in Morrowind, ever since the first time I played it on Xbox as a child and wanted the Fiend Katana he sold and I didn't have enough money. I had to try a bunch of times to kill him, and then after I finally managed it I took his shop and home for my own. Playing Morrowind never felt right without using that shop as my home base, even when playing the expansions to an extent.
