Why would your muscle memory become better if you are constantly making the WRONG lines. This is exactly the reason you should attempt to do the right lines.
The artists who do not make mistakes in their work are the ones that have trained to always do the correct thing. They do not do frivolous marks. They do not 'work' a line. These are the true masters because they can quickly produce what they wish accurately. There is no reason not to work towards this aspect.
