What I find the most enthralling is that the whole Xenoblae Chronicles game was made as little more than a test to render vast expanses of land with little to no loading transitions.
Just traversing through Gaur Planes was just staggering...

Houses you can buy or build in Elder Scrolls games. There's something wonderful in the feeling that this is YOUR house.
Literally almost all of Final Fantasy IX up until the world starts getting fucked. They nailed the cozy RPG town feeling in every single area.

I absolutely love free roaming games (Dragon Quest, RDR, AC, etc). But something about the atheistic of Monolith games really put me off. The fact that every one of their games have to have Mecha. AND they have to involve huge dinosaurs. Two things I'm not a big fan of...and they're so conflicting with each other. Kind of like how Star Fox Adventures was about Dinosaurs...but also was suppose to be a Star Fox game. So it turned me off.
Someday soon I'll just try the game and probably love it. But its just one of those things where the design of the game has kept me from trying it.

Something about those games is so eerie and depressing. The hubs are comfy and their music too, but overall there's just this subliminal hopeless and sad feeling even in the hubs. And the melancholic, god-tier music plays a big part in that.
It's impressive that it manages to do that especially because it's a god damn pseudo-MMORPG in a video game and it's more immersive than most.

What Guild Wars 2 did right, among the myriad things it did wrong, was the world design and art direction.
