I was playing co-op and it was a blast, levels are filled with interaction and are so fucking dynamic. Everything is bursing with charisma, the soundtrack is excellent.
I think the controls subtracted a little bit of my experience.Using ZR+ZL to grab is weird, and as Donkey Kong is always running I often miss my jumps for thinking that you can jump farther holding Y, while to jump farther you have to roll first, and for that you must run a little bit before pressing the Y.

Eh the gimmicks aren't that bad, it's literally as easy as blowing while playing no where near as jarring as the slashing etc on the original wii. It doesn't happen that often, though you can blow whenever to cheat and see invisible items. I haven't played W101 to verify if that's bad, but in 3D world I barely noticed it.

I'm passing on 3D world if it forces me to play the entire game on the tablet so a few microphone activated platform levels aren't unplayable. It's been pretty annoying with all the doom and gloom it's brought up. I don't have many issues with it, but it's like the autistic child at the table nobody wants to mention. Tropical Freeze/W101/MK8 were great fun, though, and Splatoon looks hype. Devil's Third could be cool if it gets polished more.

It does indeed come with an HDMI and you'd be surprised as to how small most of Ninty's first party games are, I believe 3D world was only 2400+mb. I've downloaded plenty of games and still have about 15 gigs left and you can always attach an external hard drive
