I honestly think they're pretty even, it's just that no one has taken Ness to the same level as Neon's Lucas. They both have great recoveries, kill setups and throws, and insane punish games. Ness lacks the tech heavy pressure that Lucas has, but I think PK fire being an effectively unblockable projectile easily makes up for it. Ness is also floatier than Lucas, so he doesn't get comboed as easily.

Oh, you mean just like in melee?
Melee matches are so much quicker because the most common characters are all fast fallers, it's rare to see a melee match that doesn't have atleast one fast faller.
Fast fallers fall faster, this is a good thing in that it allows you to shorthop aerials faster for more pressure, which basically leads you to doing everything quicker.
But their downside is that they get comboed easier, and being a fast faller makes your recovery worse.
Lots of damage + can't take damage well + can't recovery well = fast paced game.
I don't even know why I'm arguing this, it's basic shit everyone knows.
