As a long time fan I'm willing to admit that Hayter's voice is actually shit. I think most people like it because of nostalgia. I'm fine with Sutherland as Big Boss and I think it's great that he does both the facial and motion animations. This I agree with. I like Hayter's voice, but theyve established BBs voice changed as he ages, as seen in the ending of MGS4.
In my opinion, they should have used Richard Doyle, as they already established him as BBs older voice.
Now, since theres Sutherland in the mix, Big Boss will have had three VAs, and Im not even sure Sutherland is a good middle ground between Hayter and Doyle. If anything, they should have picked a voice that was more of a transition between the two.

A common symptom of PTSD is to relive a traumatic event over and over again. Snake having PTSD after the events of Ground Zeroes seems pretty likely, especially given what we've seen in TPP trailers. By releasing such a short game with replayability, ad a lot of time to replay it, I think Kojima is trying to put us in Snake's shoes. He's created a game where we the player end up reliving the same traumatic event many times. The descriptions of the other missions also make them sound like they may have happened, just not at Camp Omega. Why would they be at Camp Omega? Because Snake's memory of them has been conflated with his memory of Camp Omega due to the trauma of what happened.
Now, if my theory here is right, there's something I expect to see happen in TPP. I expect to see the game revisit Camp Omega in some way or another. I don't think we'll literally go back, but I think Kojima might make use of our familiarity of Camp Omega the same way he used our familiarity of MGS1 in MGS2, but for a different purpose. I think he will sneak in elements of Camp Omega at times that Snake isn't psychologically stable. Parts of the game will be Snakes perception of them, not what they actually are. I suspect that this will also be the explanation for some of the more supernatural elements we've seen in the trailers.

1. Lines that Big Boss should be saying going to Kaz
2. Voice acting that drifts between the awful -"KEPTCHUWAITINGHUH?!" and most of the lines in Ground Zeroes - and the fantastic "I won't scatter your ashes to the heartlesss sea, I will always be with you." It's so inconsistant.
I know a lot of people don't like Hayter because of Peace Walker and MGS4 (which I have no issue with given the aging thing) but if the net result is paying more money to have Big Boss be nearly mute and all over the place, then I'd rather have Hayter.

There's something wrong with that though, both Snakes in the top are from Phantom Pain, most of the differences it says are between the Punished Snake (horn) and the Ground Zeroes Snake (no horn) so it's safe to assume that the Snake post GZ, the one with the horn, is actually another Snake and not Big Boss, mostly because 1. Big Boss that appears on Metal Gear, Metal Gear 2 doesn't have any scars or horn, and neither the one that appears in MGS4, but that could be because he's using another body, and 2. The reason Kojima splitted the game in half is actually because you play as two different people, he's making sure we think those are 2 different games but changing some aspects of the game, the HUD, mechanics, etc.

It's not even in the sense of the tutorial, Big Boss doesn't know anything that is going on.
Kaz briefs him on missions and about everything, Huey goes behind his back for the inspection and then tells him how they hide Zeke and get their stories straight.
Big Boss is basically a low end grunt or, at least, the game presents him in that way. You could literally replace Big Boss with any MSF soldier and it would make more sense to the character. In fact, it would make more sense for him to be there during the inspection since he's supposed to be in charge of the place.
Big Boss was only voiced by someone else at the end of MGS4, which was decades later. GZ takes place a few months after PW, and he has a completely different voice.
Kojima's excuse is that Big Boss is older. The above discredits that, unless he really didn't give a shit about Metal Gear, and if anything, he sounds less old now. And the two actors are almost the same age.
That being said, I'm already over it. I'll miss Hayter, but oh well. I forgive Kojima for that because the gameplay looks great and I'm glad it's coming to PC.

I don't like it partially because I don't think Kiefer's a good voice actor, but also because I feel like he's the reason Snake barely talks in any of the footage we've seen. Codec conversations are out, and in the intro for the Afghanistan mission, Snake doesn't say a single word. I think part of that is they can't get Kiefer in the recording booth for long, so they just don't give Snake many lines.
