I used to be genuinely freaked the fuck out when I played the first 3 games in the 90's. I imagined the suffering someone who's infected with T would have to go through. CGI backdrops would tell the story of Raccoon city and how it succumbed to the undead. I was unnerved when observing how the bosses and such have mutated regular human bodies into something horrific. It was all fiction, but it made sense at least. I had a genuine sense of claustrophobia, due to the excellent design.
All that shit is gone. And it's RE4's fault.
