How hard is Lunatic compared to just hard? I'm finding hard rather easy now that I'm about halfway through, and Everyone says that Lunatic+ requires going crazy with eugenics and reclassing, but does regular Lunatic give a better challenge?

Even following a lunatic walkthrough move for move, people died to the point that I had to soft reset each level at least 5 times each. You don't need DLC at all, I just killed Grima like a week ago without DLC or grinding.
Just pick like 4 pairs of people, and use them exclusively. If you pick right you might even be able to use their kids (I managed to get Severa around chapter 16 and Noire around chapter 19, Noire especially stomped the living daylights out of the game)
You can even use Donnel if you really feel like it (I did)
Just make sure to let your healers and dancers do their shit at literally every single opportunity.

Donnel is alright in Lunatic because you have to baby him. But you have to baby everyone else too, so it kind of evens out.
Like even if you're not using for wacky supersoldier Pokemon breeding time, he's still decent enough to have around because he can grow fast.

Frederick is a necessity for the first 3 chapters until all base functions are unlocked and you can start sharing equipment. Lunatic becomes easier as you play the game can be solo'd with few 1st gen pairings.
Hard mode = Normal mode, Lunatic = Hard Mode

No. Lunatic+ is the exception. While it does have the extra enemy reinforcements that Lunatic mode has all enemy units have a random chance of posessing the following skills; luna+, vantage+, pavise+, aegis+, hawkeye+ which have a guarenteed 100% proc value in combat.
Lunatic+ is even more unfairly skewed in the enemy's favor but exploiting eugenics and other tactics broken in the earlier modes can help level the playing field.
Yeah it was hard as fuck at the beginning you have to rely on Fredrick with Chrom or someone I forgot. The last level was actually the easiest and the only level for me which took 1 try no one dying.

I just had Wyvern Panne paired with Fred kill everything on the left side of the map. Made sure she was only in range of one bowfag at a time if at all, which wasnt easy since theres tons. Had to use everyone else to lure the majority of bowcunts away. Then she knocked him the fuck out with a hammer.

I'd recommend playing any of the other ones that aren't the GBA games for now. The SNES games, DS games(the ones with Marth from the Smash Bros series), Path of Radiance, Awakening. FE7 was built as a refining of 6, and 8 is pretty much just 7 with a world map and lots of non-human monsters, so they play very much alike, moreso than its contemporaries. PoR(the one with Ike) and Awakening let you fuck around with skills, moreso than 4 and 5 on the SNES.
Are they worth playing? Absolutely, but I'm suggesting you don't burn yourself out.

Have him fight shit. Pair him with up with Stahl or Kellam(who give boosts to his strength and defense and can support him) and let his high growth rates kick in.
Once he hits 15(which yields Aptitude), reclass him to mercenary, which is a solid class-line, and lets his high luck(pretty much the one advantage he has over everyone else long-term) take advantage of armsthrift, which can prevent a weapon from being consumed(with a good luck boost, he will literally never run out of weapon ammo).

So I started emulating Path of Radiance since I enjoyed Awakening so much. And uh, wow. The story blows Awakening's out of the water. Not only do I have a fun time clearing through maps but Ike's story really makes me want to succeed and find out what happens next. Compared to Chrom who's main thing is he has the Fire Emblem, all the bad guys want it, he runs away until he kills the big bad.

Lunatic sucks. The challenge can be interesting but the fact that it mostly comes from giving the enemies insane stats makes it more annoying than anything else. They really needed a difficulty between Hard and Lunatic, because Hard can get way too easy if you've ever played a Fire Emblem game before and Lunatic just isn't a balanced difficulty.
Hard mode in Binding Blade and Blazing Sword was the best. Pumped up the enemy stats but not to obscene levels, encouraged you to use units that you wouldn't use otherwise thanks to hard mode bonuses, actually made the game more challenging without being stupid.
At least Lunatic isn't quite as full retard as Radiant Dawn's hard mode though. Durr, let's remove the weapon triangle and enemy range indicators, that'll make the game more strategic!

The stat inflation ON TOP OF the op as fuck skills just kills it. If it was just op as fuck skills and maybe +1 to all stats for each difficulty you go up, it wouldn't be so bad. You'd have one skill per enemy in normal, two for hard, 3-4 for lunatic, and 4-5 for lunatic+. Going from base stats of 3-7 and no skills to 13-20 with skill+ is just total bullshit

ehhh. most units with HM bonuses are pretty solid anyways. also, units have stat boosts in awakening's hard/lunatic too (bigger boosts on lunatic), dependent on their level. the unpromoted units starting from nowi/gregor get about +1 to everything, which is meh, but the later units get much larger boosts. tiki in particular kicks ass in lunatic mode, getting +4/5 in every stat compared to hard mode (and like +8 compared to normal), and she's actually underleveled (gets ~50 exp per kill) so she's easy to level. i got her to 30/22 in a no grind run, which is ridiculous considering how many chapters you actually have her for.

Awakening regressed in that aspect has nothing to keep Dark in check. It's like blessing a bolting tome in RD and then slaughtering the whole dragon map and everything that isn't the final boss from affar.
