Why do people spend thousands of dollars on a PC when every exclusive worth playing can be played on a laptop from 1998?
>>
Because it's fun
>>
>>257579251
because multiplats might as well be exclusives for PC
>>
>>257579251
Good luck getting Minecraft to work on a laptop from 1998 without burning your house down.

>that beautifully vanillia minecraft screenshot
>its never going to be that simple and comfy again because they added too much bullshit
how could it go from being the best comfy game to utter trash in so few updates
>>
>>257579815
because they thought adding a lot of shit would make it the best and now only 12 year olds and autistics like it
>>
>>257579815

1.7.3 was like a sudden death that came from nowhere

I don't understand how it went from so good to so shit in one update
>>
>>257579815
But the game still looks that terrible and is still overall fucking awful and boring. Nothing significant has changed.
>>
>>257579815
It can still be very comfy.
I'm currently playing on a server hosted by a friend of mine, to which only 5 other people have access. Being free from 12 year olds and being able to build whatever you want with friends is just ultracomfy.
>>
>>257579251
>implying Minecraft can be played by a 1998 PC

No PC components supported pixel shader 3.0 in 1998, dumbass, it didn't even exist.
>>
>>257580164
>I don't understand how it went from so good to so shit in one update
I don't understand how anyone thought Minecraft was ever good. All I ever hear is this dogshit about MUH COMFY, but no one ever mentions how the gameplay was just mining, autistic castle building, and "exploring" the empty green world of hills.
>>
>>257580164
>1.7.3
1.8 was the Adventure Update. Pistons were pretty neat. I also liked the dog thing because dogs are the best thing ever., and I thought getting companions was neat.

>laptop from 1998

It might've worked if it wasn't such a poorly coded piece of shit.
Notch really dropped the ball on trying to make Minecraft a smooth running game.
>>
>>257580636
I enjoyed it when it was in beta
I just liked building things, it was like virtual legos
>>
>Minecraft can be played on a laptop from '98.

I can't even tell what's trolling any more or just sheer stupidity. Like that one guy yesterday who posted "proof" that Microsoft made 896 million dollars last year when he can't even do basic fucking math. (89,600 in millions in 89.6 million, not 896 million, jesus christ.)

Maybe /v/ is just this stupid. See you guys later, gonna work on some certifications to get out of this hell hole.
>>
>>257580636
It was a great game to just relax and get lost in
you didnt have to think about much just relax, go into a cave, get stuff to make your home look nicer, go home and make your house look nicer, rinse, repeat
it was a very autistic game but the mindless building and how simple it was at its core made it a very comfy game
building a village with friends to relax and just make nice looking things was nice
it really wasn't for when you wanted a challenge playing a game or anything, it was more for when you wanted to play a game but put in as little effort into thinking as possible when doing so
then all the stupid updates they kept putting in ruined the core of what was good in it because they took the advice of the 12 year olds who play the game on what they should add
>>
>>257579815
Fucking this. Game was so chill and nice before notch decided to pander to the dumb faggot fanchildren and muck it all up.
>>
>>257579251
Literally the only reason I'm considering building an upper-mid-range PC is so I can play this with shaders at 1080p 60 fps. It just looks so hypnotically comfy.

I almost want to get an R9 290 so I absolutely don't lack for anything but that's really fucking pushing it. Maybe the GTX 760 would be a better investment. Fucking decisions
>>
>>257581632
>relax
Yeah sure, it's been great ever since they added creepers that can blow up your shit and ender who can steal your shit and teleport inside your house and steal your shit
>>

I was in a Network Administration thing in college last year and after a few weeks I noticed that one of the guys would come in early and play minecraft via web browser.

I told him about it and how I have an account and it's really fun.

I think literally the next day he had an account of his own and set up a vanilla survival server. There was a couple of other people from our class who also had access but it was mostly the two of us.

We would spend hours until 2-3 in the morning just exploring and mapping out the world and mining and eventually setting up a rail system to navigate around. He would kind of be in charge of the building projects since it's his server and I would be doing most of the mining & resource production.

After a while though he turned monsters off, and that is 75% of the fun in survival mode and I stopped going on and eventually dropped out that program in college.

Like with any game, it's 200% more fun if you do it with a random friend.

I wonder if he ever found my hidden stash of diamonds...
>>
>>257582136
>creep blows up you

The issue is Notch wanted to make some sort of combat game so he but bows and swords in the game, and zombies and other monsters. They're all shit! nothing about them is planned or designed worth a damn. Honestly take a step back and think about what minecraft is, and then look at the monsters. They feel out of place as fuck.
>>
>>257582310
>Like with any game, it's 200% more fun if you do it with a random friend.

masturbation
>>
>>257582408
I liked the monsters
they were easy as shit to avoid and made the game something more than just building blocks
I also thought hiding in a home to wait out the zombies during night was still cozy because it gave me time to work on the inside of a home
also they added peaceful mode for a reason
>>
>>257580636
It's vidya lego
>>
>>257582823
Well yeah but half the resources come from monsters.
>>
120 hz in games like Sleeping Dogs at 1440p is worth it.

Fallout 3 runs better on my shitty laptop than minecraft does.

Implying a laptop from 1998 can run that game. It's horribly unoptimized. Even my laptop from '08 can't run it.

Say whatever you want about the base game, but all those technical mods make up for the best tech autism game there is. The only alternative is Factiorio, which honestly feels like a castrated 2D version of what you can get in MC.

>>
>>257586645
This this this. This is why I just don't even bother anymore and play on peaceful. It's not like it's a particularly hard game, and having monsters spawn literally everywhere except my house gets old real fast. It would be much, much better to have the spawners be the actual source, like this guy said.

Judging by the sheer popularity difference, I really doubt it. My first time hearing of that game, at least. Also what the fuck, is this called a Minecraft clone? Cause it might as well be just a texture pack, from the looks of it.
>>
>>257587939
If I remember right, the base game of Minetest is pretty bare bones and lacks a lot of content compared to minecraft. However, there are mods that do what minecraft does and there is even a guide on the forum of which mods you need to make it into minecraft.
>>
>>257587939
>>257588801
Should also add that there are minetest modders adding in minecraft mods into Minetest like buildcraft and such. Some of them even just link the recipes/instructions on the minecraft mod pages.
>>
>Game has been out since 2009
>still only has 4 types of useful ore

Why.
>>
>>257589493
Because mining, in MINEcraft is the least important aspect of the game for some reason.

Also are wood tools still 100% useless? All you need is to make 1 wood pick and then you can make stone tools instantly.
>>
>>257590116
I've used it to smelt coal a lot at the start.
>>
>>257590328
You could actually smelt wood tools? Thats kinda neat, but I don't see why you would bother making more than a couple of wood tools when you have a infinite amount of stone.
>>
>>257590629
Not tools, wooden logs. Smelt them and you are basically getting free coal.
Wooden tools are useful for like five minutes.

If you don't have floating ruins, creeper spider, Rougelike Dungeons, Millenaire, Ruins, Enchanting Plus, Battle Towers, Achimedies ships, and Infernal Mobs, you're not playing ir right.

>Can build entire civilisations and contribute to their growth, take over, war, defend from raids, and but land

>Sometimes spawn near Vanilla villages, Trade has never been more awesome

>Thanks to ruins, Diamonds can be found still harder to get, but shit get's RPG as fuck when dungeons lead into cave networks, abanadoned mneshaftes and underground towers
