The bigger question here is: Is the anime actually worth my time? I've read some opinions in the thread but I want some more concrete answers.
My country actually aired the first season (dubbed of course) and I really liked it, but I was younger back then and over looked some of the sexual themes. Even if I detest the concept of harem shows I was entertained by this a lot.
Should I re-watch it at least for nostalgia sake? It was quite a guilty pleasure of mine back thenas well as introducing me to hentai.

A dating sim is a dating sim. Either you get a sense of satisfaction by building stats to unlock content or you don't. There's not much innovation to be done on the gameplay front aside from making sure it's balanced and not just a grind.
As for writing, that's a more subjective issue. But you know how when people learn to draw by emulating anime, the end result doesn't even look like anime anymore? I feel like the same problem applies to writing. The entire reason people play dating sims is because they want an emotional connection. If they just wanted an impersonal fap, they'd download the CG set. So when a "character" is just a repetition of the most extreme traits of other sims/harem anime, there's not going to be as much connection as the original, which in my opinion defeats the purpose.

It's a good series overall, definitely better than most of the harem series over the years, though admittedly that's a low bar. The light novels are good too and the anime has stuck to them pretty solidly. The anime is two twelve-episode seasons in, plus two full episode OVAs between season 1 and 2 and a slew of shorts, which altogether brings us up to the start of book 5 in the Light Novels (of which there are 17 and still being written). And Season 3 starts in the spring, which will likely cover books 5 and 6.
