One of the things I disliked about Awakening's female cast was that they were fetish fuel and little else.
In previous games, there were some characters like that, like L'Arachel for tsundere. But it was never this frequent. Even characters like Titania who appeals to people who like Christmas Cakes had a lot more to her than just I'M A CHRISTMAS CAKE.

I liked Awakening. not as good as other FE's, but if they try that formula again I wouldn't mind as long as there were improvements.
Maybe make the game bullshit have a better curve than 'Easy as piss' to 'lol better use DLC to grind otherwise its impossible', and also flesh out the characters. Hell, keep the waifu or husbando shit but get rid of the children characters from the future and instead make the actual characters more unique. but first gameplay needs to be worked on.

And that was one of Radiant Dawn's biggest flaws too, the weak characters. In Awakening, it's hardly better.

I'm not saying they need to divulge anything special, but at the least they could do something more than I AM CHARACTER AND I EXHIBIT [TROPE]. Persona 4 suffers from shallow characters as well but when its characters leveled up it avoided the problem by just saying "another level for me" and "level up". More generic, sure, but it doesn't make them seem as shallow in a way. Difficult to put into words. It's just that in Awakening every little thing a character does is a constant reminder of the one or two tropes/archetypes/quirks their character is designed around and that's it.
