2013 was a great year in general, but I picked awakening because it's the one game I kept coming back to play the entire year through, and still do. LBW, Pikmin 3, Rayman Legends, New Leaf, SM3DW, were all great but I stopped playing them after I beat them.
2012 was fucking destitute, NSMBU surprised me by being the best 2D mario since SMW. it's nowhere near "great", but everything else was somehow even worse

I wanted to like Uprising, but I just couldn't for some reason. I played a few hours of it, then put it down and felt no inclination to pick it back up. Then a few months later I played some more, actively DIDN'T have fun, and dropped it entirely.
I had the same issue with W101. I think it's something about these action games with unorthodox control schemes and "cuh-razy" plots with corny as fuck dialogue. it just feels like it's all trying too hard, and I don't like it. especially the controls, just do something simpler that works already, no need to re-invent the wheel.
not talking shit about anyone who likes these games, I just see some flaws in their design and the presentation isn't engaging enough for me to take the time gittingud
