I played this. It's an awfully balanced game, but its hella fun just seeing what you can do to break it. Assassin just maxing dexterity and assassination to get a 50%+ chance to kill people and get 100 gold ON HIT. Spamming shit loads of spells. Lowering your unit costs with charisma/merchant so you're paying basically nothing for your entire army.
That game was awesome.
This gem here. So much fun playing it with friends.

I agree, it does hold up today. It has all the controls and UI stuff you'd expect from a modern RTS, like autocasting spells, control groups and whatnot. You can even control group buildings too.

I made the character at worldstart and village hopped for a while until all my contacts were dead then stopped playing for 6 months. Came back about 2 months ago and met up with some bro people and eventually recruited a town of dedicated players. Even in our new as fuck but well settled village you can powergrind stats like they're candy. One guy we took on was completely new a week before we got him and two weeks later his were in the 300s and he had bartered some of the best gear in the world for bricks.

It was genuinely scary up until you return from going back in time to the Monastery. At that point your so badass that nothing can really hurt you.
The top moments though are popping spectral vision to see people being hung from gallows, as well as those flaming skulls.
