From what I've seen from the screenshots it seems like Mother 3.2 which is okay I guess but every Mother game has a significantly different design. Even 1 and 2 despite them being similar in many ways. I'll just wait and see.

Emulating has some issues which make it more difficult. If you have VBA-M, go into the audio settings, then Output API, and then click the settings for the one you're using. Set the sound buffer to 2 frames to make it easier.
It's still not perfect though. Most songs have a background beat that you can use to easily get 9-10 hit combos going.

As someone who doesn't give a flying shit about fan games, the whole Mother 4 shitstorm really upsets me because it deviates actual discussion about the series and turns Mother thread into piles of shitposting, and the worst part is, it's very easy for trolls to come and derail a thread by simply mentioning the fan game.
Even though I don't give a fuck and I think both, the people who defend the game and those who are against it are retarded, for giving a fan game this much of an importance, I'm more on the side of the people who think they should change the name. I have an emulator question that slightly ties into the Mother series. When I'm playing Mother 1+2 on the visualboy, the music distorts when a really high note is played.
