It's not necessary. She was put there for many reasons. Having that much scar tissue is already one thing and it wasn't really just a school for crippled people but generally people who needed more medical attention than the average student and having 40-50% of your body like that is certainly enough. Then of course we have the PTSD which will be less likely to be triggered in a place like Yamaku, but also the fact that since everyone is "special" there, it would be the optimal environment for a person like her. She wouldn't be the only person there without a clear disability though. (e.g. Misha, apart from the beforementioned possible autism) It's still just a game though, so does it matter?
