This. There's several factions with very high degree of focus on necromancy (like Ashen Empire of Ermor, Rome after undead apocalypse, capable of fielding thousands or even tends of thousands of undead) and beyond that, you have a vast repertoire of various death magic spells available for all (cause everyone in the world to age at an accelerated rate, transform fellow death mages into immortal liches, rip the souls from enemy soldiers to transform them into zombies, break dead Titans free from Tartarus, raise neverending waves of skeletons in battle)

With spellcrafting you can summon armies of skeletons

GW1 had an amazing necromancer class
Any of the modded Elder Scrolls games, recently made an illusion and conjuration mage and am having a blast.
Also some M&B mods let you control an army of the undead, but it makes everyone else dislike you and skelingtons are among the weakest units.

The Undeath mod for Skyrim is pretty good, I know the creator. Skyrim is a shitty game, but it's at least fun running around as a lich fucking everyone over.

Dominions has always been an evolutionary rather than revolutionary series (for example, all 14 factions of the original are still there, now there's just 70 of them). There's few slightly controversial changes but they aren't something a newcomer would miss and aside from that Dom4 is a direct upgrade (and the one all MP games are being made for now).

But to get around that you simply collect every single corpse on a level and then dump them on the one below. You raise the mass on the next level, kill everything and gather the corpses then dump the corpses on the next level. Rinse and repeat until an orc priests smites you.
