There are a few sections of "hold forward to win", but those are well balanced with combat segments. And there are tons of unique mechanics too. For example, the purple girl has a Ristar-like charge attack which also serves as a mobility method, the green one can climb walls Mega Man X-style and has a motorcycle and the white one can create shields. It's pretty damn fun.

They made a legitimately good, if not great, game, but they can't escape the 'original character, do not steal' stigma, despite their characters looking better than anything any OC 'artist' has ever put out.
