Little Tail Story localization when?
>>
We just had a 400+ thread yesterday without any form of furfaggotry derailing, and it kept on topic about the game with some fanart postings.

I highly doubt we'll get lucky again.
>>
First chain of business; I still haven't beaten the game. I just can't get behind playing as an animal. The characters aren't bad, it's just playing as an animal is fucking weird.

Second, here's some reading for you guys.

It's lewd in Japan.

Lewd only in Japan.

You can tell that the game has so much god damn love put into it. It's just a title that the developers really wanted to make, money be damned.

It was seriously one of the few games I regret not buying at launch, and I was seriously depressed by the end of the game. It was just so.. Good. I was always interested in it but I sorta forgot about it for a while. Picked up a used copy a few months back and holy hell. I have never felt these feels about a game since my childhood.

I'm slowly learning moon, I want to talk to the devs and give them a heartfelt thanks. I want to buy the artbooks, I want to see this series continue. It's one of the last few genuine games I've played in YEARS.

Tail Concerto and Solatorobo were very "comfy" games for me. The aesthetics reminded me of Mega Man Legends and I loved the art style and architecture.

There's a decent amount of variety and there are no other games quite like them. I don't see them having mass appeal but that's not what they were trying to do.

As for them being furry. I don't really see anything offensive in them. The games are for kids so there isn't anything particularly racy in them unless you think stepping out of the shower with a towel wrapped around you is lewd.

Last time I've checked (Long ago) they were doing something with going into space...

It's a labour of love, really. It's not really a game that would appeal to big audience

>>253678408

They ran campaign on twitter and asked people for kemono fanart like 2-3 weeks ago. Also a mysterious poll about what kind of kemono people enjoyed.

>>253679429

Solatorobo is the most visually impressive DS game. Shame it came out when the system was slowly dying.

And the game had some 'sexy' undertones... I wouldn't really call this game totally for kids.

I've dropped my identity in the last thread at the end.

>>253682443

Oh yeah. They unlocked missions each week after release that further expanded the story. I suspect they were already included in the game, just you had to connect to Nintendo service to unlock them.

There was a very nice mission with Merville and Belgua there with their little romance.

I think CC2 keeps making artbooks to try and make more money so they can make another game. I think they're also trying to build popularity of the series any way they can. Bandai might throw them a bone if they get it to become more popular.
>>
>>253682598
To be honest you may want to start with something smaller. RPG's are a lot of work and usually take years even with a decent sized competent team.

Also, JRPG's are even more niche now than they were in the "golden age." Back then it was one of the only ways to put a decent story in a game with the gameplay being secondary but these days they feel sluggish and random battles are a chore.

>>
>>253683030
You didn't need to connect to the Nintendo service to access them. My internet is too shit to access that stuff and I still got to see the mission with Mervielle and Beluga. The missions come with the game.
>>
>>253682598

Yuropoor version had them unlockable week by week. I remember NA version coming after the EU one so yeah, sounds about right.

>>253682778

Making RPGs is all about inventing a good battle system. I've tried making a few in my life and I can't do a dynamic and simplistic one to save my life.

Platformers are kind of exploited to hell and back. I actually put one anthro 2D sneaking game I've been working on for years now on the backburner because Gunpoint got released. Might pick it up in few montsh.

>I think they're also trying to build popularity of the series any way they can. Bandai might throw them a bone if they get it to become more popular.
Let's face it, the series' commercial viability has only ever decreased. From Playstation to DS to mobile, it won't stop getting less budget from Bandai.

I wonder what were the budget amounts for each game. The way jap devs usually have lower budget needs, CC2 might get a successful console/PC release with crowdfunding.
>>
>>253683718
I've always assumed CC2 works on the same kind of budget like Treasure. Make ho-hum licensed games until they have the money to do their own thing.

I feel like Solatorobo was probably more expensive to make than Tail Concerto.

As for Little Tail Story, you probably have it right on that, although, according to Wikipedia it was partly made to make the audience for the games bigger.

It isn't except for people that were REALLY into Seasons 1&3. Which pretty much eliminates 90% of the modern audience. I've gotten Digimon Dusk few years ago and I liked it but I think they needlessly complicated it. I would really want a game like Digimon World 1 or 3.

Physical releases are the best anon. In my opinion. You get to keep a physical object with all the data forever and will be able to carry it and travel around with it wherever you go. It also means devs can't take the game away due to DRM restrictions.

I like physical releases, personally, though I'll admit digital has its advantages, and if you do things right to a large extent you can do what I just described. I want to own my games physically though, so I even buy PC games physically.

I take it you're not familiar with the usual publisher model.

Most of the time, the publisher both owns the rights to the franchise and controls the budget. The devs are twice over in their thrall. It's no wonder self-publishing and crowdfunding have increased so much on PC.

It took CC2 literally years of picthes and concept art to get Bandai to greenlight Solatorobo, and even then it was made for a handheld, since they have lower budgets.

Yes, the first LTB Archives volume has a bunch of proto sketches for the main cast (The full Chocolat page from that pictured here). The third volume goes to ridiculous levels of prototypes where they barely resemble the final game, too.

The physical medium has a charm to it. Quite frankly I've cut down on buying physical medium unless it can be activated on Steam, then I'll buy it in a heartbeat since it's cheaper than on Steam.

The biggest problem I have with physical medium nowadays is the lack of good manuals and box goodies that I've grown attached to during the 90s

>>253687914

I think it would be easier to just remake the game

>>253688332

Game price bloat comes from many sources. Physical copies are the least contributing factor, but I see your point.

Also the last thing you've mentioning - Brian Fargo is doing that with Wasteland 2. I think it's actually a very smart idea given he can make enough copies without them lying around unbought.

That's cost only to the publisher, not to us. Games released digitally still cost the full $60 unless they go on sale.

If anything the prices will become worse once everything does go digital because then they'll have monopolized their own product. I'm not looking forward to the day that happens. Especially with how goddamn stingy Nintendo is with their digital pricing.

That graph says the usual $60 tag. That's the cost to us alright.

>Games released digitally still cost the full $60 unless they go on sale.
That's becoming ever more the exeption rather than the norm. Cue the starting prices on Steam. Digital distribution is driving the consumer price down, it's just not intantly. There'll always be proverbial jews who try to gouge $60 for a digital release, unfortunately.

>If anything the prices will become worse once everything does go digital because then they'll have monopolized their own product. I'm not looking forward to the day that happens. Especially with how goddamn stingy Nintendo is with their digital pricing.
The sad thing is, for consoles, digital-only indeed wouldn't do much because even their digital markets are monopolies already. It's not like you can buy from a different digital store if you don't liek XBLA's prices, for example. The PC has plenty of competing stores.

A lot. I got the LTB Archive books when they first came out -- long before CC2 put them on Amazon -- so I had to deal with really, really expensive special request services through Shopping Mall Japan. The first two books cost me about $150 each while Starlight (Which was the special package with the soundtrack and extra books) was about $200. The Fan Books were about $150 in one fell swoop. Then the Japanese guide I got way back in 2011 for like $30.

And I can't wait for Solatorobon 3 and Tail Concerto's Archive to come out so I can spend even more money. I thought I was done spending money on the series. Silly me.

>>
>>253692249
Speaking as someone who got it way before Solatorobo was ever announced, it's cute, but incredibly boring. It's like Solatorobo-lite. Doesn't have anywhere near the amount of story, lore, or character development Solatorobo has. Solatorobo was quite honestly exactly what I wanted TC to be in the first place.

If nothing else, it's a very short game. It's best to play it with a controller, as are most PSX games.

>>
>>253691398
holee jesus thats alot of monies. ok maybe I should strike the idea of buying any
>>
>>253692821
You can do it either way. You might appreciate Solatorobo more if you're familiar with Tail Concerto's main characters, who make several cameos throughout the game, or you might appreciate Tail Concerto more if you play Solatorobo first and want to know the series' roots. It's no big loss if you don't play TC, though. Solatorobo is very much a standalone game and you don't miss out on any necessary story details if you skip it.

I'd honestly recommend TC if it weren't so damn slow. That's what really kills the game.
>>
Strelka Stories when?
>>
>>253692928
Bear in mind the prices are much, much better now that CC2 puts their stuff on Amazon.co.jp, who ships books internationally, so you're literally paying their retail price plus shipping.

www.amazon.co.jp/LITTLE-BRONX-ARCHIVES?Solatorobo-????CODA?????????--BlueSky-/dp/B00BP886ZW/ref=la_B00IUISLO6_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1405653759&sr=1-1

So, for example, LTB 1 costs about $50 on Amazon.co.jp. Add in shipping to the US and it comes to about $80 (They do combine shipping and I highly recommend buying the books together if you can). Already you're paying half of what I paid to get LTB Archives 1 back in 2012, even less if you combine shipping on everything.

Only thing to keep in mind, though, if you plan on getting the Fan Books (The eight books on the left) is that the Rouge, Nero, and Blanck Fan Book volumes are now out of print and it seems unlikely that they'll get another printing.
>>
>>253693128

>>253693381

Kind of sort of. You know the black cat gang kittens who are hidden around the game and have those photograph pieces? That's mainly what you do in Tail Concerto, except instead of throwing shit everywhere you have a gun that shoots bubbles which entraps them, kind of like Bubble Bobble.

Like I said, it's the kind of game I'd call cute, but I'm glad they went in the direction they did with Solatorobo.

Look to the top right of the page and you'll see a "Would you like to see this page in English? Click here" link. It makes the entire site layout English. You won't be able to use the same Amazon account you have in your home country but it's very easy to make a new one for co.jp.

As I said, I got my books way, way before CC2 put them on Amazon. When they were originally made they were only available on CC2's website and they did not ship internationally. You were forced to get it through a Japanese dealer who could do requests, and there are always hefty fees for that.

I don't regret it one bit, though. It was nice knowing for a time I was probably the only fan in the United States who had them, but I'm glad they're more readily available now for other fans.

And there are a lot of songs (86 I think). Uploading every single one of them is hard, especially considering the titles are in Japanese, making the process confusing.

>>253700636
You can get the soundtrack one of two ways:
By itself (About $25 US plus $30-ish shipping so around $55 or so)...
http://www.amazon.co.jp/gp/switch-language/product/B00BP82YMS/ref=dp_change_lang?ie=UTF8&language=en_JP
Or in the Starlet pack (About $90 with $30 shipping putting it at about $120):
http://www.amazon.co.jp/gp/switch-language/product/B00D15LCKI/ref=dp_change_lang?ie=UTF8&language=en_JP

The Starlet pack has the third LTB Archives volume, the soundtrack in question, as well as a few other exclusive books, like a 100 page book of all the storyboards from the intro, a book of the 4komas, and a manga of that Astro Boy esque character. Not a bad deal if you were thinking about starting a collection.

Also don't ever render videos meant for good audio quality in WMM. It just can't.

Surely you aren't talking about this game.
This game has no grinding.

And Jojo and Naruto are WAY more popular than this series.

I'd say that the piece of media I've had access to that had the most similarity to this game is Gurren Lagann. Only with more furries and less ridiculousness.

That said, I've not watched much Gundam (08th MS Team is the only one I've really watched) and I've never read Redwall.

But it really is very similar to Gurren Lagann.

>>253704530
You could say that. It's very charming

like 30-40

About $40-50 complete with the original box and soundtrack, $30 or if it just has the standard case and manual, $15-20 if it's just the cartridge is about right.

Isn't that what happens in the American version? I mean the shower scene is there. I don't think it explicitely says that he removes the towel but he still gets slapped after walking in on her.

You just need to lurk eBay. Complete and even brand new copies show up for pretty good prices every so often.

People want the game and its getting old. New is harder and harder to find I assume.
Ebay might have cheaper new prices. There are a few game shops online I'm sure. Do a little searching. Buy used if you have to. New if you must. The game really is worth it, trust us.
I could write an essay on it.
>>
>>253709065
Chocolat for sure, shes the brains of the operation. Chocolat is the only thing that keeps Reds hunting business going. She flies the ship and organizes everything.
Not to mention Elh is like 300 years old that shits weird.
>>
>>253710553
She's 300 years old but she can finally age after the end and she still looks young. She's also not as...outward as Chocolat. Elh is more quiet and reserved. Plus Elh can read ancient language to some degree.

is there any sort of region locking for the game?

since I'm from burgerland will it work if I get it from say Europe? Never had to do anything like this before so I'm not sure.
>>
>>253711059
There's no region protection but the American version has all the DLC pre-loaded on all cartridges. If whoever owned the European copy didn't download the content you're shit out of luck since WFC is gone.
>>
>>253710918
Outward is bestward. I'd sure get alot more done with a gal like that around.
>>253711059
No region lock on the DS as far as I know
>>
>>253711059
If you play on a DS(Lite) or on a flashcard, there will be no region lock.
If on a DSi/3DS however, there will be region lock.

>If on a DSi/3DS however, there will be region lock.

That's not true. The DSi and 3DS play all DS games regardless of region. The 3DS games themselves are region protected.
>>
>>253711656
You just made that scene all the more wonderful.
>>
>>253711676
DSi e+ and DSi games have region lock if you play them on a DSi/3DS.

Anyone? I want to upload a cutscene, but it's 4MB.
>>
>>253711870
Right. I forgot Solatorobo even had DSi features. I'm pretty sure I recall people saying that they've imported their copy and it worked fine.

Still, I think it's best to get an American copy just to be sure you get the DLC.
>>
>>253712117
Its so small but that's much better.

>>253712132
Do this anon. The DLC is worth it.
