daily reminder that nisa censors America because of Australia
>>
Art as definition is defiled by idiots who think 'art' is a word of praise or a matter of elevated taste or something to be enjoyed by everyone.

A lot of people have a misguided notion of the whole dynamic. Which is why plebs deny niche and sexual gaming because their whole definition of art is warped.

>>

>Unofficial conversations.

Doesn't work like that there, the publisher pays the board to assess the game then the judgement is left on the website. That's why so many localization confirmations come from Australia.

NISA is trying to pass the buck and pretend they're not responsible.
>>
>>252652534
Pretty much, and even if the ESRB and PEGI approved the uncensored content they would still have to censor it for both regions because of australia.

Senran Kagura Burst is uncensored and has a lower rating in Australia than either Europe or US, they have no metric to be judged by; what's allowed in 10 games will be the same reason 1 game is refused classification, they're fucking insane.

But that's beside the point. The point is NISA is full of shit and didn't approach ANY ratings boards and the whole of the blame falls on their internal decisions.
>>

>You can't prove me wrong.

Actually it's pretty easy to prove you wrong. Taking parts out of a product alters the original product, and also alters the experience of using the product. In other words, playing a censored game is not the same as playing an uncensored game. Censorship in itself means something was removed. As in, the censored product is less than the original product.

TL;DR: Censorship makes a game incomplete.

Well of course they're all going to tell you that the punishment scenes are 'problematic'. The ratings boards wouldn't be doing their jobs if they thought everything put in front of them was rainbows and sunshine.

The problem here is that NISA is refusing to listen to people who knows what the hell they're talking about. I wouldn't be surprised if NISA has some sort of victim complex, and that all the ratings boards are out to get them

>>
>>252651861

>>
>>252659419
>You think that TK is having NISA handle the European distribution?

Come on, man. Put at least a little bit of brain power in this shit. NISA is an American company. It's in their fucking name. While I suppose it's within the realm of possibility that they "could" handle the European distribution, I highly doubt it.

The fact is, nobody knows what the fuck NISA is smoking when they put up that tweet.

>Also, you think TK hates NISA for the Atelier fuckups?
Don't just blindly hate NISA (even if they deserve it.) To be objectively fair, Atelier was an "okay" localization. I don't see any reason why TK would hate them for working on those games.
>>
>>252659419
TK first announced Ar noSurge for yurop so no, they are handling the localization, not NISA.
>>
>>252659881
Its not that TK hates them, its just that the consumer doesn't trust NISA to handle anything and was worried that NISA was going to ruin something which is even worse for them
>>
>>252659881
I'm guessing he's confused because NISA handles publishing of Atlus games in Europe even though they aren't a Europe company.
>>
>>252659881
>Come on, man. Put at least a little bit of brain power in this shit. NISA is an American company. It's in their fucking name.
They're handling Atlus USA's games in Europe, like Soul Hackers and Persona Q.
>>
>ask Houk to confirm his statements on the the unofficial consultation and NISA only making one version of the game as true
>'Are you preparing to publish this in some way?"
should i just tell him that I'm going to post it on a forum or pretend that I'm going to keep this conversation private?
>>
>>252660264
If it was just mere distrust, TK wouldn't have been so hasty to assure everyone that NISA isn't touching the game.

I'm not downplaying what you're saying, but just saying that it goes beyond mere "distrust." It's something more than that, and everyone but NISA knows it.

>>252660402
>>252660529
I had forgotten that, sorry. I'm American, so it's not something I encounter very often.

So, if TK "were" going to let NISA handle distribution, then in light of that tweet I'd say it's pretty fair to assume that they wouldn't touch that shitbag company with a ten-foot pole in the current situation.

NISA's previous fuckups :
(Those with question marks have been rumored but cannot be entirely verified so take those with a grain of salt)

AR TONELICO ELEMIA, MANA KHEMIA 1 and 2
o Bad string handling leading to complete crash against specific bosses (AT1, MK2) / major part of the extra dungeon enemies (MK1). MK2's crash is rather easy to avoid, though.
o MK1: Unnecessary and flagrant name changes to a variety of playable main characters.
o MK2: Lack of testing in the extra chapter leads to crashes when doing certain tasks if Ulrika is the main character instead of Raze: Student handbook and Job post usage crash the game.

AR TONELICO METAFALICA
o Typographical errors, missing words, and shaky sentences, mistranslation of important game terms, inconsistently-adapted names
o Localization introduced or exposed game-crashing bugs in the game.
o NISA marketed the game based on Sex Appeal, when, in fact, AT2 was intended to be a more serious and thoughtful game, with less emphasis on cheap hooks and a greater focus on the plot, than Ar Tonelico Elemia
o In order to fit English voice acting onto the disc, they cut approximately half of the Japanese voice-acted scenes, leaving many important plot points lacking appropriate impact.

AR TONELICO QOGA
o Typographical errors and untranslated text in various spots on top of their "translation" not even being remotely close to the japanese track and english voice track, what little there is, not even matching the text in some areas.
o Binary Field (DLC episodes) scam where they put out each chapter separate then a few days after a bundle pack which didn't work if you had downloaded the first episode.

HYPERDIMENSION NEPTUNIA
o Neptunia 1 would crash on the dungeon leaderboard screen if it couldn't upload your score while you were on PSN for whatever reason.
>>
>>252662848
HYPERDMENSION NEPTUNIA mk2
o Very questionable localization quality. (bad translation, unfunny jokes/lines added to several dialogues which changed the characters personalities at times)

HYPERSIMENSION NEPTUNIA V
o Very questionable localization quality. (bad translation, unfunny jokes/lines added to several dialogues which changed the characters personalities at times)
o Didn't tell the gamers idol events DLC would not be included, then, when brought to attention, denied any and all knowledge of such DLC.
o Freezing issues with some DLC.

WITCH AND 100 KNIGHT
o Game-crashing bugs (rumour about a GameFAQs user fixing everything and mailed such solution/file to NISA. Still no official support nearly a half year from release, nor token mention of any such thing.)
o Mediocre translation. Added jokes and nonsense to dialogue.
o PS3 overheating (Confirmed to be replicable by person who originally made the post) http://nisamerica.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=14425&start=90

ATELIER ARLAND TRILOGY
o Name changing: Esty Erhart => Esty Dee (S T D = Sexual Transmission Disease, get it? XD)

RHAPSODY DS
o http://www.siliconera.com/2008/10/13/bonus-content-cut-from-rhapsody-ds/
o http://www.siliconera.com/2008/10/14/falling-flat-encountering-rhapsodys-ds-glitches/

DISGAEA 2 PSP
o They fucked up the dlc characters so they don't have voices.
o They decided not to release all the dlc characters, but released the final character, majin hinako.
o Majin hinako unlocks item book collection slots because it assumes you have the other dlc characters.
o Downloading majin hinkao means you can't complete the collection book, effectively killing anyone going for 100%

DISGAEA D2
o Game-crashing SKILLS (several Fire-based)
o OPENING stops abruptly
o Fuuka and Desco were free DLC for the first month after release in Japan and Asia. Day 1 paid DLC in USA and EU.
CPU melting bug at release

MUGEN SOULS
o Scrubbing minigame removed over 120 CGs removed. Basically censored extremely lazily. Excuses given over the years were many and varied, but some of them were "We wanted to appeal as much as possible to a wider demographic." "The vocal minority can't put a dent in our wallet." "We find this content creepy." "Unofficial ESRB rep indicated this title has potential for AO (it didn't)"
o Created new bugs and glitches not seen in the JP release
o Massive lag during regular battles
o Can fail an area load after a battle forcing you to restart from your previous save

MUGEN SOULS Z
o Scrubbing minigame removed, over 120 CGs removed. See entry for Mugen Souls
o Elka introduced as the Hero of Water World when she's the hero of the Fire World
o Slumbering Boss battles cause freezes in Mugen Field

Disgaea 4 sold like shit, comparatively to the rest of them. NIS is trying to "appeal to a wider demographic" for Disgaea 5.

Disgaea is no longer the cashcow it used to be.
>>
>>252663407
Well Adell and rozalin are on disc dlc. That is self explanatory

Disgaea 3 dlc in the original japan release if you buy all the dlc you get to fight baal and a special thank you message. Now you could get this by purchasing the dlc one by one or the bundle in japan

Now when NISA brought the dlc and you bought all the dlc individually you didn't get the baal fight. Only way to do the fight is buying the bundle so if you already payed $50 in dlc you need to pay for it again in a bundle to fight baal.
Gamefaqs was fucking pissed at the time.

They're poor, and fan demand for Criminal Girls has been high as fuck for years.

They lost Neptunia, their second best cashcow. Disgaea, their best cashcow, is flopping. Mugen Souls a (potential) cashcow was dead on arrival thanks to the censorship. They can't translate Atelier games any longer.

The only series they have left that sells is Dangan Ronpa, and wouldn't you know, they split the Japanese 1+2 games into two separate games, while charging you full price for both.

You might be barking up the wrong tree here.

The boards haven't officially seen the game, no, as there is nothing to see. But a representative of the boards have seen some of the worst "offenders" of the Japanese version. In an unofficial capacity.

The fact remains that someone from the boards, somewhere, has at least seen a bit of it, and unofficially discussed the sort of rating it might receive from the board. This is common practice for localization companies who have "problematic" content. Even XSEED do it.

It's dishonest and disingenuous though, as the unofficial rep can not rate a Japanese game in an accurate and worthy manner for American/Europe/Aussie release, as that is not the version we will be getting, especially considering (presumably, I admit) they can not read Japanese.

Mind you, NISA doesn't give a single shit about that. If this mysterious dude even hints at the possibility of an AO rating (for any reasoning, no matter how slim) they will rally behind this as their justification to censor. Because "muh wider audience," and "muh morals."

Fuck NISA

There's more than just one problem with that line.

There's also the fact that NISA has, for years and years, stuck their head in the sand and outright denied that censorship has anything to do with Mugen Souls terrible sales.

Now they are suddenly reversing their statements to lie and garner sympathy. It is, in all senses of the phrase, damage control.

Silver linings is that you can take this as a tacit admission that they are actually paying attention. They know this is hurting them, so they need to spin it in their favor by any means possible.

I made an account and I sent this to Houk but I never got a response.

Last week I emailed NISA's support asking if they would remove or change anything (lost the email by now so I can't post it, sorry) a few days before they put out an official notice of what they'd be changing and hours after I read that they sent me an email saying it would have no changes, so.

I could complain on the forums but it honestly feels like a lost cause.

No, it counts. I'm just pointing out that it's much easier to sell out on something with a very small run than something with a larger one. Though I guess that's common sense.

>Its just a shame they have to deal with this shite

Yes, it is a shame people are left in the despair of their own incompetence.
