You know I find myself looking back on it to find memorable things to say about it in it's favor and I find myself... just blown away by how little I can really think of.
The main character was one of the worst I've ever seen.
Despite having the entire cast from ToS with vibrant personalities and interesting stories that everyone wanted to see continued, they did literally fucking nothing with it. You didn't even keep them as real party members and they served very little, if any, plot relevance.
The battling system wasn't bad but honestly if they fucked that up it would be a mystery how they were knowledgeable enough to even program the fucking thing.
The characters admittedly had some moments... that were promptly ruined by driving home a message harder than Spiderman was even able to.
The villains I've mostly forgot about. Or was there only three? I remember the guy with long red hair, the sadist, and that guy that wanted to bone the sadist loli like he was a junky for her.

ToX2 is not meant to be played on normal, that's for sure.
But honestly, despite how broken Jude is, I loved playing as him. He was literally *everything* I was looking for in a fist/martial arts character. It also helped that ToX forced you change up your combos so I was going crazy every fight.

No. They actually had an intricate, well thought out system that encompassed their magic, religion, and science. Just because it most likely went over your head doesnt mean it was just nonsense like you seem to be implying.

It was great for world-building and fleshing out the characters. It all had purpose. Of course, if you didn't care about any of that then I'm sure it would seem tedious to you.

I any other Tales game you have to time your jumps, bait an attack and then sidestep or use an Arte is a defensive way like Tempest.
In Graces you do a simple motion and there, have a dodge and free CC.
