Maybe it's just me, but people just refuse to coop. They feel awkward about talking to strangers and my friends are normies, I know only one or two who play only CoD. As long as people fight over fucking loot I don't see myself playing fucking MMOs

I think MMOs should be built with the ability for you to solo everything if you're smart, getting allies to do anything will just scale the monsters, loot, xp to match the party size.

but I hate interacting with people if I can avoid it so I just play regular RPGs anyway

maybe you don't, and the people you know don't, but considering my brother (who's in high school) plays CS 40 hours a week, I'm pretty sure there are people out there who can invest time in MMOs.

It is because everyone is hostile as fuck and cares only about acquiring that next pixel. Long gone are the days where you play an MMO to be immersed in a world of adventure and intrigue. Today, It is all about finishing your 6 dailies as quick as possible, and god forbid you not be familiar with the latest cheese run to finish it as quickly as possible.

honestly the best thing about mmos is the "massive" part. We all enjoys WoW a lot more when we got into a guild and started playing with people. The connection to others made it more fun.

My sister, who is an IT manager for Chase, plays and is obsessed with this shit, which is some sort of bizarre sci-fi smartphone MMO where you have to go to different real world locations and shit to progress. She has literally taken time off work and traveled across the country just to progress in this game.

If people like a game enough, believe me, they find time to play it.

Ok, finally have the time to weigh in. Here's how I'd make a naruto mmo:

In regards to specific groups or factions like say akatsuki, jinchurrikis, seven swordsmen, etc. Make it known that they are closed groups with established members BUT make it so that one can train under someone in the group should the player choose so that they can gain certain similar attributes, kinda like Xenoverse
>train under a swordsman, gain the ability to use a replica of whatever sword that swordsman uses
>train under a jinchurriki to be allowed to have some kind of jinchurriki cloak or influence, whatever. But make it specific to that beast as well as balanced

All ninja ranks would be attained through the story of the mmo up to jonin. Anbu can be attained but really it's just an additional costume and a title.

Kage positions are already filled. Possibly attain a Kage title for some raid but ultimately means nothing

As far as villages, allow the player to choose whatever they want. This decides factions for story and pvp purposes. Players can choose to be missing NIN at anytime, allowing them to freely choose whichever faction they want

I don't know how they would do sharingan or byakugan, but if they do leave it at that and at their base forms. No rinnegans. No mangekyou sharingan.

Make a class system of something like: weapon specialist, element user, summoner, healer, whatever. Each class can master one as well as half master another class as a subclass. Some classes can go on to advance like have a summoner go onto to become a sage but by doing so drops their subclass. Or a healer would become something of a battlemage like Tsunade. An element user would go on to use advance kekki genkai level elements, weapon specialist would just use a variety of weapons

Also, a special addition, make elements RANDOM. This'll piss off the community, but at least it'll keep it varied, but make it balanced so as to not have lightning or wind users as the strongest.

Also, for summoning contracts, many summons will be available for a varying amount of animals (maybe 8?). Only two available at a time, can switch it up but would have to retrain that new summon. Basically works like a pet system.

I forgot about puppet masters, but they'd probably work similarly and would most likely fit into the weapon specialist category

This was actually a bit easier than say, a Bleach mmo where literally everyone is a special snowflake due to a shinigami's Shikai and bankai, or an arrancar's specific released form

So if I were to give an example of a character:

>from land of waves
>village hidden in the mists
>chunin rank, so mid-leveled to jonin which would be endgame
>elemental, suiton, subclassed as a summoner and can summon say a hawk or whatever
>studies under the turtle jinchurriki and is allowed to have a rage mode cool down that enhances his water style jutsus as well as his defence
>becomes a jonin
>keeps with elemental, drops summoning but gets lightning as an additional element
>can now do water and lightning attacks separately or combine them for 2-3 special jutsus.
