I don't understand how one can be so shallow as to judge the quality of a character by their skin color or gender. It just doesn't make sense to me. When I play a game I identify with characters based on what they say and do, not what they look like. I don't even bother with character creation in RPGs, I just pick one of the defaults at random and go with it because it doesn't matter. It seems like the people arguing for this sort of thing have something to prove, like they require self-validation due to some assumption that the world thinks less of them when the truth is that we're already a step ahead in that we recognize how arbitrary superficial characteristics really are. Ironically the self-proclaimed progressives are the ones stuck in the past.
On the bright side my intense hatred for the current state of the video games industry has convinced me to make something so great that all publishers go bankrupt because people are too busy buying my shit to even care about their marketing. I work at a company in the same vein as games and have done animation retargeting, and let me tell you, this is complete and utter B/S. A main character for a big game like ACreed probably has hundreds upon hundreds of animations. Even if you were to somehow magically slam the bones to a female stature and reprocess each and every animation procedurally, you'd still have to worry about tons of them requiring cleanup work, since the difference in hips and shoulder length would likely cause some issues. Men and women have differences in gait during natural movement. It would look completely half-assed and unacceptable for such a big-release game.
(not to mention dialogue, character models, textures, altering any applicable story elements). This guy is clueless.
