It's pretty good. A 2D puzzle platformer. The console games have puzzles, but are 2.5D and a bit more focus on action than puzzle.
Still can't believe they wanted to change him on the Wii remake. So happy enough people showed how much they cared for him.

Well, it's different from the console versions (which I assume you didn't play, so that doesn't matter) because it's all 2D, not 2.5D. It's still pretty good though.
In regards to it's story, not really anything special (unlike the other games which are pretty good story wise) but not knowing who Klonoa is might make this game a little confusing.

It's actually a series of 4 panel comics that were released in Japan. This is a translation of them. I'll admit, some of them are pretty corny or have jokes that are lost in translation, but there are a couple of good ones in there too.There's always reaction face potential too.

As someone who owns all the games, I had a lot of fun. It's different to the console ones in that it's basically a puzzle game that controls like a platformer but a lot of the puzzles are pretty good and the windboarding sections are pretty good.
Not as good as the console games sure, but it's still a good game in it's own right.

Just found it completely lacking, both visually and gameplay wise. The puzzle style gameplay was not what i wanted from a klonoa game. I felt it was bland and insultingly easy. There is not a whole lot to do in the levels. They just felt so empty.

Puzzle platformers where the main gimmick is you grab enemies and toss them. It sounds very simple, because it is, but the game sets it up in interesting ways that it doesn't get old very fast. Also gets kind of feel-y at times.

To answer your question, the Klonoa games are 2.5D or (or 2D for GBA) platformers. Known for it'sfungameplay, interesting level design, and surprisingly dark twists (especially the first game, but not really for the handheld games).
CGR does a good job of explaining the games if you're looking for reviews.

Door to Phantomile, though. Get it on PSN or if you can't, get the Wii game, or emulate the PSX version.

Also, yes you should get the Wii U game, although I recommend playing the first one so you get an idea of what they're all about and get acquainted with the story (even though the games don't tie in with each other). You can either get the PS1 version or the Wii remake (although I would advise that you change the voice acting from English to the original PSX voice overs), or you canpirate it and use an emulator.

"Looking at why Shiftylook has come to an end, there are a lot of reasons. In my opinion they invested a lot up front on promotion and marketing to make the site launch with a big bang. Even though they were just starting out, they set up enormous booths at conventions with live music, arcade machines, free t-shirts, and more. It seemed to be banking largely on Andrew Hussie’s mega-popular Homestuck characters as guest stars to bring in an audience, which was an interesting experiment but it seemed that the Homestuck fans weren’t looking for a crossover. There’s still the upcoming Wonder Momo game from WayForward, which actually seems like a perfect match, but it’s unfortunately coming out too late to save the comics.
In the end, I feel the current webcomics like Bravoman, Wonder Momo, Katamari, and Klonoa are actually at the popularity levels that a decent webcomic SHOULD be at after only 1 or 2 years. If properly monetized, they would probably be able to modestly support their creators, but that’s not enough to support a company with expenses like Shiftylook."
