I say this because Metal Gear was THE Konami franchise for the past decade while Silent Hill and Castlevania slowly died off with mediocre releases, it made sense to give it the biggest budgets. Sony however has a fuckton of other exclusive games and timed content that they have to cater to, many of which outsold whatever Kojima made in the past. The Kojima branding is strong at a PR level, but it makes only a small dent in sales and profit compared to their other household franchises.

Exclusives (how else would a console sell?) are not the issue but the fact that (non portable) consoles are a thing when a superior platform exists that does much more than play videogames. The endgame of digital entertainment should be a platform for everything.
