Maybe, but Yumi's Odd Odyssey came to PC earlier this year, and this could all be a publisher thing rather than dev. I did say probably though. Any one of those could've been some dev screwing around with the names, however unlikely. It happened with Half-Life 3, anyways.

It looks like the original version to me, e.g they've only ported it and haven't really done any work on it.
The only annoying part here is that they made a sequel to Disgaea 1, called Disgaea D2.
Disgaea D2 has HD sprites for Laharl, Etna, Flonne and pretty much all generic NPCs.
They could just have rebuilt Disgaea 1 in D2 engine/graphics

Take a look at the more recent sprites by NIS, this is just literal cash grab low effort port that will most likely fry GPUs thanks to NISA.
Not to mention D1 is dated as fuck when it comes to grinding and shit.
