Hey /v/irgins, I've been thinking about joining the PC mustard race, and just for a frame of reference, how much did each of you spend on building your PCs?

Are you sastified with your current rig? Do you expect it to last you a while? Can you run pretty much any vidya out now? Do you have any regrets?

I'm rather curious.
>>
Bump cause I'm a fag.

I regret spending more than $400 on multiplats, yes. But free online and etc.

$3000.00 but I got the fanciest shit on the market.

The rig, yes quite satisfied...shit ports noty my computer literally gets BTFO by console games because of ass blasted devs.

> Do you expect it to last you a while?
Xbox in the year 2020 won't be a match for my current computer.

>Can you run pretty much any vidya out now?
Yea sure but not all of them @ 2k/144fps because some games break at that speed or they just run like shit.

No, if you have a decent job spending money isn't a problem.

$1600 but I got exactly what I wanted.

>Are you satisfied with your current rig

Yes. Everything is definitely what I wanted to get in my next build even down to the case.

>Do you expect it to last you a while?

With my gaming habits my previous build lasted me a very long time. And it was built from low-end and mid-range parts. This is all high-end.

>Can you run pretty much any vidya out now

980ti SC. Of course.

Ausfag here, $1100 at first with small upgrades along the way

>Are you satisfied with your current rig

It's been great

>Do you expect it to last you a while?

Built it on a tight budget at the end of 2012, close of 2015 and it maxes out any crossfire-supported game. 2x 7970's though quite old still hold their own. When the situation requires it a single 7970 still maxes everything minus a few settings for 1080p@60.

>Can you run pretty much any vidya out now

single 7970 handles anything that doesn't crossfire fine. I only game at 1080p though and I can't stand any lower than 60FPS

>Do you have any regrets
The price gap between AMD and Nvidia in Aus at the time I bought it was ridiculous. I would've gone Nvidia if I could afford it but these have been flawless for the price (bought the second dirt cheap preowned). Ran Eyefinity at one point (5760 x 1080) which was incredible for racing sims.
>>
>>319703219
Nope. I bought them this year off eBay, $145 incl shipping.

It sucks literally 200W according to my overpriced corsair PSU w/ hardware-level monitoring over an internal USB header with the 4.2GHZ OC from 2.67GHZ, but goddamn does it scream. Its as good as a stock skylake i7.
>>
I've spent ~ €2500. But keep in mind that I live in the ass end of Europe and everything remotely high-tech costs extra here and takes forever to be delivered. Also, the cost included a monitor.

Do you need to spend that much on a PC if you only play games? Probably not, you could shave off at least €500. But I actually need all this shit for work.

Specs:
i7 6700k
Asus Strix 980ti
Asus Maximus Hero VIII mobo
32gb ram @ 3000mhz
500gb ssd + 1tb hdd
+ case, cpu liquid cooling, 144hz monitor

>Are you sastified with your current rig? Do you expect it to last you a while? Can you run pretty much any vidya out now? Do you have any regrets?

Pftt regrets? I regret getting a ps3 for so many years since I was a poorfag that couldn't afford a pc. I went from pc to console gaming and back so that was terrible seeing blurry shit for years. Even on my old ass pc I could get anti aliasing and ALWAYS 1080p if I wanted it.

In any case I built mine in 2010ish you need a framework.

I used premium parts and brands with the high end stuff.

If you want a GOOD pc it will run you around 800-1000k just to lay down the base. Then you just wait 5-8 years and upgrade your gpu on a whim. I'm still running my i7 920 cpu from 2009 which at no bottleneck at 1200p. Of course if you want 4k and shit it will run you higher to keep games maxed.

As of now you should wait for the dx12 cards if you want the best bang for your cash since dx12 will also make cpus a bit irrelevant in the long run meaning you won't have to upgrade it. Don't forget VR is also on it's way which will be a superior experience on pc.
>>
Fuck just stop calling getting a pc joining the master race you sound like a fucking idiot
>>
>>319703449
Yea, and it all runs off 750W psu.

Can I max out all the games I play at 1080p, 60 fps? Pretty much.
Haven't tried Witcher 3 yet, but I assume it that it's unlikely that this system is going to run it at 60 fps with absolutely everything on.
>>
>>319703464

Upgrading your gpu will also run you 300 every 5 years depending on what you want though if you wanted to you could sell your gpu before a next line hits and pay the difference to upgrade if you're one of those that likes to stay on top.
>>
Saved up with my shitty part time job to build the best PC I could. Honestly wish I could bring myself to sell the computer and put the money towards cool stuff like snowboarding or throwing parties or something. Videogames are too good at distracting you from a rea fulfillingl life, at least I'm not addicted to drugs or something tho.
>>
So, if I had a budget of around 800 or so, could I build something decent? At least 1080p on most games?
>>
>>319700187

I built mine about 6 years ago for $800. I spend about $200 a year upgrading, mostly on a whim because I like doing it, never because I've needed to.

As long as I keep upgrading occasionally it will last me forever, basically. Most worn out part gets exchanged every year or so, this times it'll be the case. My current build has a gtx 770, so I'll probably be good graphics wise for another year, maybe 2 if I'm willing to go down to medium settings.

I've never run into a game I can't play on at least medium at 60fps. Blops III is the first I ran into since I got the 770 that I couldn't max. I usually sacrifice down to 40fps or so to get the best textures.
>>
>>319700187
four hundred. Was a pre-built. All I spent money on was the graphics card
>>
>>319703808
Theoretically, on mid-high settings. I would spend at least a thousand though.
>>
>>319703808

800 is excellent for 1080p would get you high-ultra across most games. But again I would wait for the dx12 cards don't buy anything right now.
>>
>>319703808

800 is fine. I you're willing to wade through craigslist / kijiji you can sometimes find someone selling a custom build they don't want anymore for cheap. Keep an eye out though, there are people who build custom rigs then sell them for way more than their worth.

i7 4970k w/ Corsair H80i GT
Gigabyte Z97x Gaming 7 mobo
4GB MSI GTX 960

It's a work in progress. My old PC (i5-3570k/MSI GTX 660ti) got taken by the cops over the summer (Housemate had CP, I'll be able to get it back after the trial or something like that) so I needed to build a computer on short notice.

Used my old case my Dad built my first PC with when I was a kid and bought the 960 and an AMD FX-8320. Total was like 500 something but the GPU came with MGSV so I saved $60 there.

I wasn't really happy with the single core performance of the 8320 so when I had more money, I sold the Mobo/CPU to my cousin and bought the CPU/Cooler/Mobo I have now.

I'll prolly buy a new PSU (fan in the Corsair CX500 gets surprisingly loud occasionally), more RAM, and a new case around Christmas and buy a new, higher end GPU during the summer when the new architecture comes out.

Yes. I can max everything but Assassins creed Unity and Watch Dogs (worst optimisation I've seen by far tho...)

I think yes, I don't mind playing in medium-high settings, so I think it will last 1 year more at least until I update the graphic card (270x OC 2gb)

Yes, and without problems at 1080p.

$1200 in January 2014

Absolutely. It's everything I wanted it to be. It can stream, edit videos, play very demanding video games, anything I want.

Do you expect it to last you a while?

As in cpu? Yea zen should be interesting to see how it pans out.

Here's a question that may sound horribly stupid.

What factors usually lead to a computer slowing down different tasks such as opening certain windows or programs? Is this slowdown you usually see between newer and older computers reversible? Is it usually only reversible with an upgrade in hardware?

Does installing a shit load if games have something to do with slowdowns? If I build a PC, I'd want it to stay running like it's brand new for as long as possible if I can. And if it does slowdown due to stupid fucked on my end, what typical parts I'd need to upgrade or replace, or if I can do something software wise.
