He looks friendly.

I don't like to see developers face because sometimes they look like decent people and I feel bad for ripping on them.

BI were retarded for releasing a game in early access 3 MONTHS after initial development.
What the fuck were they thinking?

Also they could of used the Arma 3 engine at the time but Dean wanted to use the older TOH (which is a modified version of Arma 2s engine)
cause he wanted the same 'feel'.
Fuck that guy, the shit they're implementing into the DayZ engine has been in the newer engine for 3 fucking years.
Thats why arma 3 dayz looks and performs 10 times better.
The game could of been way better but, they wasted 90% of their development time reinventing the wheel.
Can only look forward to Dayz2 8 years from now.

some game devs i've met (lel interviewer) have been really nice about their early access games, and you can just tell that they're full of ideas, only lacking the money and time and confidence in a fan base to make something that'll be worth it a couple of times over (starbound)

Some are just...grasping faggots who want money early, and are not shy about showing it because it's basically a panhandling scam, and they'll get just what they want off idiots (asteroids, elite:dangerous)

This upsets me, because I know they mean well but it's such a double edged sword. All the excitement for Starbound is all but gone, even this new update was just enough to convince me to sheepishly re-install it.

I was so hyped for that game too.
>>
>>319685164
He was also blocking people that mentioned DayZ on Twitter.
>>
>>319685556

It took fucking ages. I remember writing a pretty barbed article on it back in the day when it seemed like it was going to be another fucking washout. Thankfully, Tim Schafer got a big mention in that one so I at least got something right, but..yeah. The makers of Starbound clearly have a lot planned, but it'll take time.
>>
>>319685164
>>319685615
I kinda get where he'd be coming from though. A lot of the time these guys just made something they wanted to play, or just something that seemed neat at the time. It happens every day, but sometimes it just explodes in popularity and in this time of always trying to find the next new thing, it just exploded.

He probably just wanted to play video games.
>>
>>319685887
Terraria doesn't help either. Each major update for Terraria is massive, and they were pretty regular in a time scale. Of course people would have made the comparison
>>
>>319685921
He's trying to sell another early access game based on people's guts falling out of their heads in space.
>>
>>319686137

Undoubtedly. I'm kind of willing to let starbound off a little just because it's quite a big project, from quite a big team, and they're actually getting stuff out, though.
>>
>>319682929
isn't early access supposed to be complained about so that the release has issues fixed?

>release
>>
>>319686517
Yeah, but instead of listening to the complaints about how the SA had exactly the same problems the mod had + other shit and actually prioritizing fixing them, Rocket proceeded to just add in more cosmetic stuff with each new update.

Then decided like a year into the SA that they needed to rehaul the entire melee combat system for some reason. So on top of all the bugs that still existed and were never fixed, you also had a broken melee system in a game where 85% of all engagements are melee based

To be fair, "Early Access" is a shitty thing for this stuff to be called. Someone needs to come up with a catchier name for "Playable and actively developed, but could stop active development at any point the devs choose".

>>
>>319694956

Knowing Dean's track record, this will become more than just a subtle reference. He stole retard's money with Day Z, he'll steal from a franchise that has no copyright protection.
>>
>>319695136

Knowing your track record, you literally don't know what the hell you're talking about.
You got absolutely nothing to stand on and your implications are completely horrendous.

Reminder he made zero fucking money until AFTER DayZ saturated the market, and BI bought it up since it's literally the only "game" they had making money compared to their military contracts, since even the watered down by-product that is Arma didn't make so much.
>>
>>319695136

You literally can't steal from an open source game that was never made into anything resembling a product or a service, was never finished and already had both several splinters of it's own community steal from each other and every pop culture reference and memes of the times.

The only thing SS13 had that was remotely patentable was the character sprite and the N logo, which guess what? Weren't legally trademarked or copyrighted in any discernable way.
>>
>>319695416

So he's probably going to turn Ion into another shitty unfinished cash cow. Why the hell are we talking about how much Bohemia made? He's got the trade down now, so he'll more than likely steal the idea of SS13 and make it into some shitty game. Just wait and see. Screencap this. He'll steal more than the Nanotrasen logo.
>>
>>319695691

Well it isnt legally stealing, but its still pretty shitty.

>>319685556

>He'll steal more than the Nanotrasen logo.
OH DEAR GOD NO NOT THE CHARACTER SPRITES IN A 3D GAME!

Oh wait by the way, he's now 25 people and has a budget of a million or two. Compared to DayZ where he was just making a typical weekend mod to fuck around with scripts on his own for free, I wouldn't even count that as a serious attempt at breaking into the games industry.

>Screencap this.

and this happens on a regular basis. the really famous case is where two entire teams, 10-15 man groups each passed a man begging for help, and once left a woman who fell and couldnt get back up.

like this guy. thing is, when you get that weak, you are almost CERTIANLY delarious. now, imagine trying to hoist a delarious man down a sheer face wall, where if lets go, it may pull every support down and take the entire team.

just like how your not really supposed to safe drowning people without a floatation device or bouy, the panicing person has a very good chance of drowning you. 1 dead or 2 dead?

You are exaggerating. Yes playerbase is small but the devs intentionally aren't trying to get much publicity yet because there is no tutorial or matchmaking to make it easier for new players to get in. Many quake 3 pros and ex-pros play Reflex and there were already tournaments with cash prizes. Matchmaking is like 2 patches away afaik.

Also, there is no problem to get a match at least here in EU. I jump into an arena duel server, in minutes more people start conecting, we switch mode to DM or TDM and have a blast. People are looking for games but mostly don't connect to an empty server, not realizing there are more people doing the same. Matchmaking will eliminate this.
