How do I enjoy video games again?
The last time I enjoyed playing vidya was during the PS2 era.
Every once in a while I'll play something from that time, but even after a few hours, I'll just quit and do something else.
How do I re-capture that spark?

You don't. If your base life isn't enjoyable, it's hard to enjoy games.
Take it from someone who knows. When you were younger and a kid you had no real life shit to worry about so all your focus was in the game.
Now you got bills and in the future you will have worries of lost loved ones. We all have to watch our parents die one day. Then you just try and play a game and it hits you how much you miss that one person you lost or you start to think about that one girl who left you or that one girl you never noticed that liked you and you didn't realize until years later. Or you think about that career path you didn't go for or that one path that was open but you failed in or that one path you didn't do because you're too lazy.
All of this will flood your thoughts when you try and enjoy games.
When you were young you had none of this to care about.
My advice is enjoy games for as long as you can, even if it labels you a manchild.

Get better sleep, it takes quite a lot of imagination to get into games again. Immersion is your goal, when you were a kid it was effortless. Now you must abandon your worries and your serious thoughts and attitudes to begin enjoying games again. Stop masturbating as well as that drains quite a lot of your capacity for happiness, imagination and willpower in general. PVP games can be destructive in your will to play games as the serious thoughts infect it and you become foaming at the mouth hateful towards all the subhuman trash around you thinking they know how to hold their god damn mouse correctly while ruining everything for everyone.
Once a game has you immersed, you should feel it again. I'm not sure which games you have so you'll have to test them out. Games are fun but you still need to let them be fun. I am sure you can find your interest in games again if you let yourself chill out. Many turn to the easy way out, drinking and getting high instead of learning how to cope with life in general without the use of chemicals. Instead of inner reflection and peace with ones self, many choose to accept their unhappiness and serious thoughts as a constant that you can only put aside with sex and drugs/alcohol/other addictions.
Just like the thoughts mentioned in >>319376970 you have many serious worries and bad thoughts, abandon them for a moment if you're to have any happiness. If you can't, just go ahead and look up the helium exit bag and end yourself.

Not OP, but I find it hard to play games that aren't PvP most of the time. I used to like strategy RPGs but anything that isn't FFT either requires a huge grind (Disgaea) or ranks you and values suicide solutions (Advance Wars/Fire Emblem/Valkyria Chronicles) which makes them very hard to enjoy. I will agree that PvP has altered my taste in games, but I don't know if that's because my living situation has stabilized (I lived in 8 different houses by age 16) or if its just getting older. As an adult I can only play games in 2-3 hours bursts at most. I get an unshakable feeling that I'm wasting the day and need to go do something else before going back to play more.
Playing video games at the end of a long hard day of work is still fun to me. Fuck being a neet though, all I did was play tf2 back then.

The real problem is you're real old now and experienced, it's not your family, problems or whatever getting in your way.
It's the fact that you're not immersed. As a child even shitty graphics of the time looked like real life.
Get headphones for starters, then play games that need concentration not shitty jRPS that are button clicking games. Something thats difficult and takes you 100%.
FPS games are really good at this because for the lack of a word you're there.
MOBA games are also really good at this because you got a mental map of shit you wanna do. Farm, Farm the jungle, stack, support, ward, gank etc...
RTS games like Starcraft 2 also have this mental map of keep doing this. Check production, check resources, build more workers, build more units, harass, defend harass, plan expantions and fight battles.
Then theres something I call immersion by interest.
I get so fucking immersed in world conquering in EU4 I started avoiding that game because its so fucking time suuckinng. I played yesterday from 8am to 8pm it was a state holiday. My day was fucking wasted. 12 hours of EU4 and I don't even know WHEN?! I played from like 1444 to 1600....
