When I saw that Tim Schafer had ANOTHER fundraiser, I was very skeptical of things as most people should be. He got nearly $2,000,000 already, and that's quite surprising to see. But I am not trusting of Schafer, so I went over the ENTIRE THING to see where the money actually is. The following is what has been collected from his Fig fundraiser.

https://www.fig.co/campaigns/psychonauts-2

Also note that most people already know Schafer had three days added to this fundraiser, which is already really bad to see without being addressed at all. And another thing is that the funders will only be partially responsible for funding, outside sources are funding this game anyways. The Fig Fundraisers are only adding the icing and sprinkles to the Schafer cake.

What does this mean? Some people are, together, helping to pay WELL OVER what their Rewards are actually allowing in some of the Rewards on the Psychonauts fund raiser. That is over $1,000,000 unaccounted for in this fund raiser, Tim Schafer!

The ONLY way for this to work is one of two ways. One, if every single person were to in fact have put in over DOUBLE what they funded into this. Two, if certain backers were to dump in a TON more than they needed. So if the $10,000 backer was to in fact dump well over $500,000 for example. Who would shove in that much in a reward tier when it's not needed...?

Just who is funding this additional $1,000,000? And what will Schafer try and say should this come to surface? Some may say it's investors trying to get more money from when this game is sold. But how is it we can believe that in any way? Only way that would make sense is if the $5,000 and $10,000 tier rewarders were investors that dumped over $1,000,000 to get this game funded and get money back. It just doesn't make sense when those people could have just gone to Schafer directly for this stuff, especially since he ALREADY HAS OUTSIDE FUNDING SOURCES.

anon the issue is you're not counting the people who are coming in at the "investor" tier that is listed separately, not part of the normal crowdfunding rewards tiers

case closed, sherlock

Anon, everything from the $39 and below is the tier I see people just wanting the game. That's about 8,000 people out of right then 12,500 funders.

For people above $39 but below $250, just the people that really want the collectors kind of shit, that's another 2,000 funders.

We get another 250 funders for above $250 up to $800. These seem to be the hardcore funders that really want Schafer's products, but I can see a few investors spread around here and there in this area.

But everything from $2,000 and up is what should be the believable area where these investors are coming from. That's still only 20 investors in this area.

I am not willing to believe that the majority of people that funded this put in double their tier rewards money to also invest in this game.

Okay, so I'm going to be totally serious about my position on this "should I trust Tim Schafer?" issue. I know nobody asked for it, but I feel like I kind of have to say it.

I backed Double Fine Adventure and ultimately didn't enjoy it (it's not a bad game exactly, it just didn't fit the remit of a classic adventure game), I didn't back Massive Chalice, and I think the Space Base issues were handled very badly.

I'm still going to give money to Psychonauts 2. I've never played the first one, and I probably never will.

This year I had a beloved series of mine come back on Kickstarter to triple record-breaking success, and I saw a lot of people who had never played the series pledge because they wanted to see the fans of Shenmue get what they want.

That's why I'm throwing in for Psychonauts 2 despite no connection for the series, or much love for Double Fine. I know there are lofty expectations, but in good faith at least based on the desire to do right by fans, I think if the game is funded it will turn out fine. Effectively, I want to thank any Psychonauts fans who helped make Shenmue III happen, by making Psychonauts 2 a thing.

I'm going to pledge not for Tim Schafer, but for the fans. I think they are the ones who will ultimately lose out if this doesn't happen. Tim and Double Fine will move on to another project, and that'll be that. The fans will get left in the dust thinking about what could have been, and that sucks.

So that's why I'm throwing in for Psychonauts 2.

You are the stupidest motherfucker in the world

Invesments are a minimum of $500. Likely, the investors put many thousands of dollars each towards the goal. Their money doesn't get them rewards, it gets them a return on their investment. Please shut the fuck up forever

did you not even look at the investors page
this is a textbook example of a conspiracy theorist doubling down on his initial hypothesis when confronted with actual facts
>University of Michigan found that when misinformed people, particularly political partisans, were exposed to corrected facts in news stories, they rarely changed their minds. In fact, they often became even more strongly set in their beliefs. Facts, they found, were not curing misinformation. Like an underpowered antibiotic, facts could actually make misinformation even stronger.

I thank you for pointing that out, I had missed that you need at LEAST $500 to invest in to count.

So we have 144 investors. So that means Everyone from $500 and up would need to invest roughly around $7,000 EACH, $7,000 EACH, to make up that $1,000,000.

That... still doesn't make sense. Why would ANY of the $500 to $800 people keep those rewards and still put in around $7,000 each to make this? There are still $2,000 tiers to purchase. So no, that makes no sense.

Or, of course, there are people that are spending a MASSIVE ton in fundings, which once more I'd believe are the $5,000 and the two $10,000 tier reward people.

So going by LOGIC, we can see that the $500, $800, and $2,000 are just putting that much in.

Taking out those people leaves us with only 10 real investors that put in toward that $1,000,000.

That's $100,000 each. And that's if all of those are real investors and not just wanting those tiers. Jesus fucking christ.

If there are 144 investors then they would only have to put in less than $700 each to make up your 1 mil disparity. The investors are not backers, they are a separate thing, are you on drugs or something?

Let's try this here.

What I was getting at is, from what had been counted already, there is well over $1,000,000 in this fundraiser that is unaccounted for, Anon. Where the hell is this money going to?

Let me try to be more clear on this.

----------------------

We have, already counted, $1,911,834 put in when I counted all of this.

When you look things over in the tier rewards, bit by bit, only $885,926 is accounted for.

What I was really saying when it came to investors, is that investors are the ones dumping that additional $1,000,000 to help fund the damn game so they can make investments back. Holy fucking hell. I will admit I got turned around and confused when it came to this Anon here : >>319326863 I am not seeing anywhere that the money from investors are helping to fund the actual game from funders.

Look at the numbers at the top. Where the hell are the additional $1,000,000 coming from? Why would reward tier people dump in so much more?
>>
>>319328595
IF for SOME REASON that the investment money is being thrown in with the funder money, then that would mean

$885,926 Funding money
$1,025,908 Investment money

That's pretty damn disgusting to make it appear as if the fundraiser made nearly $2,000,000 and is making it out like such a success like Broken Age was, when really the funders are barely close to getting this game funded and it's the investors that are making up the difference.

Do investors even know that's happening in the first place, if this is what is happening? I don't think they'd be happy to know their investment isn't really as popular as it really appears, if this is true.
