Why does nobody care that games are getting progressively shorter the better they look?
Because length doesn't always equal quality, for one.
For two, because the average gamer these days doesn't want to bother playing the same game for too long, lest it interfere with the next big "hype" title in the pipeline.
I do. That's why I stopped getting hype over games with good marketing. If it's too good to be true, it probably is. And I'd rather wait a while before purchasing a new title with these traits than going all out on it on release.
There have been people bitching about games becoming shorter for a while now. But these are a vocal minority, in comparison to the amount of people who don't know any better because they just got into a particular game series with the most recent entry. And as time passes, the difference between those who are well versed in video games versus those who are just getting into it due to a fad and then leaving it in favor of the next title that is "in" will become more distinctively marked.

But that isn't the case always due to a number of, ultimately, human factors.
We can only assume that, unless you're willing to rile up enough people to change the industry to deliver a proper video game, we only have a handful of options:
a) Deal with it and just play the games, no matter how short or shitty they are.
b)Deal with it and play games that aren't necessarily those being advertised everywhere.

I just killed my family following these instructions.
Okay, so this is easy, you should have all of the chemicals needed around the house!
Youll need around 5-over 9000 pennies (or copper coin from your country for those stationed), and a straw, put these aside.
Get a clear jar, scoop 2 tablespoons of salt into it, and 1 tablespoon of baking soda.
Now the first important ingredient should be in the bathroom cleaning supplies: Ammonia (any brand). Pour it in until the jar is 2/3 of the way full (as tall as you want the crystals to grow)
The last ingredient is laundry bleach (careful not to spill on your clothes!), fill the rest of the jar.
Now drop the pennies into the bottom, and quickly take the straw and blow bubbles onto the pennies to get the crystals going. You should begin to see stringy crystals form after about 30 seconds of blowing. That’s it!

The pink and purple some from the production of copper-calciphate using the CO2 in your own breath! (blowing until youre dizzy actually increases the CO2 in your breath, giving better colors)

There are plenty of short games out there that are very good, regardless of how they look.
While I agree games as a whole have gotten shorter, i'm more worried that the gameplay is still lackluster even with all the advances in technology. The way things are going is exactly what the industry wants though, nice looking games without much in the gameplay department.
