FF15 faces reasonably high expectations in general of course, plenty of people just plain never played FF13 at all, but amongst some of the more core customers expectations must be at least somewhat tempered by how god awful the last one was. As long as FF15 is at least decent, and as long as Squeenix can follow up with something further improved a bit reasonably quickly, the TREND will be positive even if the game isn't a 10/10 or 9/10. Sometimes that's enough to get things moving again.

They're a pre-scripted looping animations that fully cater towards the whole "hold down the button to continuously attack" design.
And it's not just the Ravage in itself, it's the combos themselves that were used in both Duscae and Platinum that make them so unsatisfying to use.

Anyone who claims BBS's battle system has any depth or nuance whatsoever needs to shut the fuck up and never attempt to talk critically about gameplay again.
Other anon is right. BBS's combat is made up of literally 1 usable attack, and endlessly spamming dodge rolls with invincibility frames.
There's zero dynamic and impactful interaction with the enemies, which was be the greatest achievement of KH1's combat. Cancelling out the enemy's sword strikes with your own using nothing but skill and timing, counter-attacks and combos, knockback on both sides and enemies that were expertly programmed to be combo-able but still able to get out of it and counter-attack you, leading to extremely satisfying fights.
BBS has none of that. Enemies will do their thing completely irrespective of what you do, there's no hitstun, comboing, knockback or parrying/counterattacks, rendering all combos, slow attacks or even just attacks that keep you standing in one place for a second useless. It's horrible gameplay design.
