What do you want to see in Left 4 Dead 3?
>valve
>3
An actually good game.
>>344613783
how would you go about that?
I mean, 1 and 2 basically nailed all the major points, didn't they?
I feel like you add more to "make it a good game" and you start to deteriorate the original concept. The original concept being: you and three other survivors are trying to get safely to an evacuation locations and between you are hordes of Plasticine zombies with the odd super villain zombie leading them.
Now we could do things like an "open world survival" mode. But then that starts to get less into left 4 dead's kind of run-and-gun style and more into "Modded Arma 3"
Reused assets from L4D1 and L4D2.
>>344613652
Hats
>>344613652
The game itself
>>344613783
Left 4 Dead 2 is really good if the people you're with aren't morons and don't try to rush the specials with melee like a bunch of dindus.
If your versus team uses microphones and communicates well you're nearly unstoppable.
>>344613652
It's hard for me to say. Left 4 Dead 2 and such hit all the major points it feels like, and all Left 4 Dead 3 could possibly provide is craploads of maps and campaigns.
Oh, maybe more of that 'semi randomized' path thing like with the cemetery in The Parish.
That was kind of cool but it feels like it was just that one segment. It might be cool if the paths of campaign segments could drastically alter from play to play based on a mix of dice roll of what paths are blocked and which are open.
Also, who would want a survivor party made up of three qt girls and one guy?
>>344613652
a campaign map with a middle school.
>>344616301
>A middle school
>Not a glorious New England University
>>344615670
What if instead they sold playable survivors?
>The inexplicable cowboy and samurai pay-for-character option.
>>344616526
I dunno, I really liked the jockey, seems like there would be a lot there. A middle school also seems like a place that would be turned into a safe house and they get trapped and turn into hordes of jockeys
No more niggers
All white cast
>>344617321
I dunno, aren't there a few ivy league schools with equestrian programs? you could argue plenty of jockeys would be at a college too. Plus, those old ,stonework buildings mean lots of people young and old will hold up there.
>>344617816
>Be gaben
>see this
>Smile
>Next Left 4 Dead cast includes A Texan, A French Canadian, a time displaced Anglo Saxon, and anArgentinian.
>>344616271
> 'semi randomized' path
I could get n board with this. Maybe maps that sort of change depending on how the hoards behave/if things blow up blocking paths/opening others.
>>344618563
oh, my god, that might be fun, to allow both zombies in Versus and Survivors to either intentionally or accidentally destroy paths.
>Holy crap, shitloads of zombies- TAAAAAANKS!
>Throw out a pipe bombs near that fuel truck, and fire a grenade launcher shot
>Collapse the alley
>Welp, stopped the tanks but now you gotta take the long way around.
>>344613652
So, what ideas would you guys have for survivors, mine has been:
>Rookie cop
>Doctor or/nurse (possibly just a dentist)
>Nun or priest (Regularly misquoting or quoting out of context from the bible)
>Street Gangster (I mean like a white trash, sagging pants kind)
>>344613652
5th infected player that controls normal undead swarms
>>344613783
/thread
All I want is penalties for leavers and votekick abusers.
>>344616271
>'semi randomized' path
they were supposed to put this in versus mode but the beta testers were retarded and kept getting lost that they removed it
>>344618923
That movie was fucking terrible.
>Leon fucking even considers fighting a titan with a knife despite knowing the blade wont even penetrate the skin
>He gets punched by one of the things, flies for like 50 ft and hits a stone column with his spine at about 100 kmh
>Is not immediatly splattered throughout the place and is not left paraplegic or even unconscious
Who the fuck directs these things?
>>344621378
that could be fun, though that player would be playing the game VERY differently that I could imagine.
>>344621462
I know it's hard for people like you and him to comprehend, but making some broad, generalized comment is not the be-all-end-all of a discussion.
>>344621648
>Has issues with people not get squashed because reality
>okay with hulked 9ft homanoids
Really, if you're okay with one being plausible reality in a fictional movie, then you gotta have some leeway with the other.
>>344621545
what kind of penalties would you suggest though?
Lower priority to be put into a group?
>>344621551
well, then it could become a thing like I suggested above where it's players and infected who can either knock down/blow up some walls to create new paths or collapse others to close them.
>>344615352
>The original concept being: you and three other survivors are trying to get safely to an evacuation locations and between you are hordes of Plasticine zombies with the odd super villain zombie leading them.
yes
>open world survival
no
>>344615670
no
>>344616141
i agree
>>344616271
>all Left 4 Dead 3 could possibly provide is craploads of maps and campaigns
i agree
>>344616526
>What if instead they sold playable survivors?
no
>>344617321
the jockey is the worst SI
>>344617816
>>344621223
the cast isn't the only important thing in L4D
>>344621378
it has always been 4v4. perhaps a new SI boss to do that? There was an unused concept art of something called a Screamer. Maybe it could fight and also creates a small group of infected to fight for him instantly rather than having to puke on survivors.
>>344621545
this
>>344621648
>Who the fuck directs these things?
asian people, I think.
what i thought the first game was gonna be
>1 huge map with various environments (farm, small city, industrial area etc)
>multiple extraction points, select few are active on a playthrough
>spawning randomly, it's up to the survivors where to head to
>plenty of clues, scenarios, events, that are naturally reached from exploring on the way as to which extraction points are picking up
>more hazards like car / home alarms and other creative shit
>improved gunplay
>slightly slower paced, survivors might be able to pick and choose some of their battles
hire me valve
I was super excited and had a great time playing L4D.
Then they abandoned the game, with L4D2, consolized, plays like shit.
Not even planning on buying the third game if they make it, burned me too bad
More diverse group odlf surviors
>>344622072
>Jockey is the worst
fucking pleb, get taste.
the jockey is fucking amazing in versus if you time it right.
>>344613652
Airplanewith no survivors
>>344622072
>open world survival
>No
Well, yeah, understandable though...
>>344622463
feels like they have a pretty decent idea. Could work well with the idea of survivors and infected being able to do stuff like shut out paths or open up new ones.
I hesitate to suggest this, but perhaps an optional mutation for gameplay could be "Character specialties", basically each survivor gains one or more small special abilities to help support the team?
>>344622435
I dunno too much about this, but it's one of the better ideas for an infected I've seen. Might work with a scenario of the infected starting to change more, in this case, they're figuring out crude tools.
>>344622072
>>344622281
I honestly don't know what would be done to salvage the concept of The Screamer.
This is one of those odd things where I'd say Valve put themselves in a corner as special infected and weapon selections go.
>>344622639
do you even play versus?
>>344613652
Special infected that aren't just pinning machines.
>>344622818
>character specialties
the problem with this is that there is always 4 survivors, so the abilities may not feel special at all
>i'm the big character
>i can press E to open some manholes
>someone else is big character, now he can press E, wew
>i'm the nimble character, i can climb up a wall and send down the fire escape, by pressing E
>now i'm not, and it's someone else's chore
it's not like that would really add anything with a full team of survivors, the interaction may as well not be there and just have a dice roll. unless of course, there's 8 or 12 survivors
>we passed so many manholes and fire escapes, wish someone was nimble or strong
>ho fuck,a crack in the rubble, good thing i'm a fucking midget, i can squeeze through and unlock the door!
that'd be better, but then you'd need all these unique characters with unique skills. maybe i'm thinking too big
>>344613652
Interactive environments would be cool, or at least multiple ways to navigate a level at all
I don't think open world would be the best way to go per se
Also ADS. Y'all are gonna reeeee at me for this but come on it's the year of our lord two thousand and sixteen
>>344615670
Character customization is nice, it'd have to be done well to fit properly but it's better than adding a fuckton of characters regardless
>>344623902
maybe you can choose to spawn with something, or a character could spawn with something, like equipment or a specific tier 1 gun or melee weapon
>spawn with a crowbar melee weapon
>can pry open a locked wooden door or manhole once
>consumed on use because VIDYA
zombies
Getting hit shouldn't make you stop in place. Thats the only change I want really.
A versus mode that's actually good.
>>344625559
>tanks are just chads in rage mode
makes sense
The Midnight Riders as the cast is all I need.
>>344625780
>instead of having a cast of 4 characters, have a cast of 1 characters
possibly the worst idea i've ever heard of in my life.
left 4 ded 3 REQUIRES a super gay guy.
