They have several franchises that are legitimately fun, so I always at least consider them. Sometimes I wait until the prices come down. I don't throw my old consoles away. I still have my NES and cartridges. The NES is simple, it will probably work forever. The Wii-U, probably not so much. Wii-U was expensive, and I am not thrilled at the fact that the controller is a battery powered device with a screen, because that seems potentially hard to keep working in a permanent way. I don't know what to think about the NX. If I skip the NX, it probably will just be that I feel like I need to get my money out of the Wii-U that I have.

Loved my time with the Wii U but it was a very poorly thought-out device with limited gaming application. Attempting to scoop back the casuals again was very presumptious of them and honestly I would have just rathered a new architecture with a strong dedicated graphics chip.
NX isn't the last chance for Nintendo, but it's gonna be what defines their development style for the next 4 or so years. I'm hoping it'll be good.

I don't doubt there WILL be a handheld released next year, but it's not the NX. I predict the 3DS successor will come out next year in the fall. It'll be using the same OS as the NX which falls in line with Nintendo's merging of its console and handheld teams, and Iwata's statements about a shared OS.
On top of this, Nintendo said the NX is gonna be sold at a profit. Even if both are weak was fuck (hell, just bundle a Wii U and 3DS together), it's gonna be fucking expensive.

Regardless of the console, I will always have faith in Nintendo. I'm not even that big of a fanboy. PC is my main piece. I thought the Wii sucked and the Wii U was a step up in every direction but regardless, both systems have great 1st party titles. Nintendo exists because of exclusives. Sure, back in the GCN days and before, it was about exclusives AND multiplats, but multiplats are what PCs are for now.

I liked the Wiimote to an extend. But really only for Wii Sports. At least it was versatile enough to almost be used as a regular controller. And the Wii U gamepad is actually convenient. Basically a screen full of extra buttons.

I'm not a fanboy of Nintendo per se but their consoles, handheld and their ecosystem have always been of huge interest to me, I enjoy playing Nintendo games and also their third party software, hell I've owned every single Nintendo handheld to date and the gameboy is my most favorite handheld of all time, I've just been on the Sony side of things when it comes to home consoles so naturally there is a split. I gave them a chance with the wiiU and had a lot of fun but ultimately was a little let down now that first and third support has largely been cut to make way for the NX. The thing that will
probably convince me to buy an NX is the price, if it's not too dear I will have a much easier time picking it up, I don't mind if the hardware isn't up to PS4/XB1 standards, that's not the reason why I like Nintendo, the vidiyo games is more important.

Regretted buying a N3DS XL because it's way too goddamn clunky, and there are only like two N3DS exclusives while most developers don't even take advantage of its improved hardware. The Vita 1000 is roughly the same in clunkiness (them OLED colors though), but the 2000 is much less so.
