People complaining about a gimmick, whatever it is, if there is one, it's probably still gonna be a regular controller in some form, since BotW supports the Wii U Pro Controller

A good new Metroid and F-Zero, backward compatibility because I don't have enough room for more consoles and that way I could sell my Wii U, an actually functional account system so I don't have to rebuy the same VC games over again, a new Kid Icarus or an HD port of Uprising with better multiplayer, specs at least on par with the competition, 3rd party support, The Wonderful 101 sequel or spin-off (barring that, a new original project by Platinum), a new in-house IP on par with Splatoon in terms of fun, Spla2n, a price tag under $400.
If it has all that, maybe I'll consider buying one. I just don't feel like I've got my money's worth out of my Wii U yet.

I speculate that sonic 2017 will be an nx launch title. If the game is being announced july 22nd, it seems like a release of march 2017 is not too outlandish. This game has been in development for 3 years and has been kept heavily secret, which seems to be what's been the case for other things related to the nx lately (BotW, the nx itself, etc). If nintendo is working hard to make sure the nx has a strong library of games on launch, assuring that the next mainline sonic will be there makes a lot of sense.

Sega always supports Nintendo consoles and the time frame matches up, so this seems very likely to me. They usually develop the main game for sony and microsoft consoles, but then they always give nintendo owners something. 3ds got a version of sonic generations, wii got a version of sonic unleashed, etc.. It will be unveiled soon, so maybe we'll get some clues whether the NX version is powerful enough for the same game, or a different version.

I bought a Wii for TP because it came out earlier on the Wii than on the GameCube. Many other Zelda fans did the same thing. Twilight Princess sold Wiis. Did it sell Wiis to people interested in waggle sports? Probably not.
In any case you'll probably have a similar situation in regards to whatever gimmick the NX has and Zelda fans wanting what will probably be the better version of BotW. Granted the GameCube version of TP is technically from a gameplay perspective the better version minus what the Wii version brought for aiming. The Wii U and NX's versions of BotW will probably have parity gameplay wise but the NX will probably have better draw distance and a steadier frame rate. That said we know practically jack about the NX so that could easily change.

As I always say, don't knock it 'till you try it. Sony tried to do the boomerang controller for ps3, but everyone hated it before they even tried it so they scrapped it. But the people who actually got to use it said it was comfortable, and instead we got the dualshock 3, which isn't that comfortable (the handles in particular) compared to the xbox 360 controller.

Despite being on two different platforms Zelda games with a dual release are still exclusive to Nintendo platforms and can be system sellers for either platform they're on. Would it be weird for someone to get a Wii U that late into its lifespan for a Zelda game? Yeah, but it'll probably happen either because they're cheap and get a great deal on a Wii U or any number of reasons really. Nintendo is looking to get at least 2 million sold to recoup for the amount of time they've spent developing the game and probably reuse this game engine for a new title on the NX.
