I think people confuse Undertale having good characters and charm with it having a good story. It has a very generic and uninteresting story that just serves as a delivery method for the premise and message, which is fine. That's how 99% of game stories work. A long time ago, the Chinese came up with a standardized system for writing called the characters of the han, or Hanzi. China had such a massive influence on other countries and cultures back during the Han dynasty, many places began using these hanzi in their own writing. (Chinese say it as "Shuǐ," Japanese will tell you it says "Mizu," and Koreans will pronounce it as "mul") Anyway, while China still uses a simplified version of these characters (long story about their new government trying to make it impossible for younger people to read cultural or religious documents since religion is now largely being phased out of mainland China) and Japan still uses Chinese symbols to this day along with their own writing systems as well, Koreans are not being forced to learn nearly as much hanja as they used to. A ruler named King Sejong came up with the hangul system to make it easier to write stuff out, so now the Koreans mostly just use this alphabet of theirs to write. While hanja are still in circulation, younger people won't know nearly as many as their older family members.

What's retarded about this is that he thinks Undertale would be somehow impressive from a Christian perspective. Sure there is ample pacifism and turning the other cheek, but it doesn't do this in any way that's different than a children's book. I do not think the Pope would be interested in good chip tune music and a fourth-wall-breaking 'deconstruction' of what it means to play and RPG. It's not anything special to a Pope's perspective.
