is silent hill done?
It'll be fine.

it's been for 12 years now.
Fortunately, we can always return to the good ol', original quadrilogy, and re-live the sheer brick-shitting beaty of Team Silent.
In case someone's never touched the SH games before, or just wants to replay them in HD, get them for PC! Follow this guide, DL here:

Mount the ISOs of 2 & 3, and then run their installers like always.
The SH1 is a PS1 rip that you gotta emulate.
The "sh2proxy" fix works as a no-cd crack as well, and is included in the pack.
In case you experience issues saving the game / not being able to edit the disp.ini, make sure the files aren't set to "Read Only", and run the game as Administrator.
If SH2 gets stuck in a black screen upon launch, close it and re-start it again.

HERE is the SH PC Guide 2016 !

im buying a ps2 and going to play the original when i get home
>>343387905
That's a good thing. Every self-claimed gamer should own a PS2, and obviously playing the very original versions of SH games is always good.
Hope you got a CRT television, or at least an older 720p monitor. Those older games don't really look too good on huge FullHD and UHD screens.

im looking for one but havent found one in y price range yet

>tfw my local stores were still selling brand new Slims for 69€ few years ago
I really wish I'd picked up one as a back up, but I already have a disc-drive dead Fat and a still working slim, plus BW compatible 60GB PS3 Fat.
anyway, finding one shouldn't be too big of a challenge. Especially if you're fine with "malfunctioning" ones (usually busted DVD drive), which can be fairly easily converted to run games off HDD / from a computer via Ethernet cord.

Unfortunately, I don't we'll ever see a true Silent Hill game ever again.
As much as I liked the P.T. demo, I'm not sure I would have liked a Silent Hill game by Kojima anyways. The strength of the originals (for me) was in their stories and atmosphere. Kojima's pretentiousness could have really poisoned the water.

it kinda bothers me we wont see a new silent hill game for new gen consoles

Kojima's not exactly been the writer of his games in age. Also personally I would've trusted Kojima way more than any of the western teams that got their hands on the IP previously. The MGS games had plenty of spooky stuff in a minor role, often even hidden. Not to mention his tendencies of breaking the 4th wall could work wonders in a horror game.
Not to mention it's pretty commonly accepted fact that you can't make a good horror game without feeling fear, as in being bit of a scaredy-cat. Kojima himself stated being 2spooked to even play such games himself, so I'd say he had more pros than cons going on for him.
Dunno what's that talk about pretentiousness is. The MGS games were no more pretentious than original SH games, and both took lots of inspirations from various sources.

last time I wished for that, we got HC and DP, not to mention horribly butchered versions of 2 and 3.
careful what you wish.

idk if /v/ has seen this video but its pretty damn good little bit of weeb shit but its part of the joke

To be fair to Kojima, I might just be overreacting to the trailer for Death Stranding. There have been some subtle spooky bits in the MGS series that always stood out to me.
I never considered the idea of someone that scares easily would be better suited to crafting horror. Maybe it wouldn't have been so bad after all?
