Play it like COD until you become bullshit powerful enough to wade right into the fray.
Don't be afraid to turn difficulty and spawns down.
Difficulty is static, each will feel easier at higher level. Turning it up does boost cash+xp if you want to risk semi-permanent stat damaging injuries whenever you get killed.
