Those of you who are aware of Disney's history know that there was a period where they did not reach the same sort of critical acclaim as they did previously. Years later, they became the domineering force in entertainment due to expanding their business so well.
This is the stage that Nintendo is in right now. NX is going to be the final nail in the Playstation's coffin. I strongly doubt Sony's movie games can compete with Nintendo's games AND movies.

you're right, without third party support it's not going to go anywhere, that's why the Wii U isn't going anywhere. The console has to be able to support the same technical performance as the current 8th gen consoles. It'll be okay if it isn't as powerful as scorpio or Neo, as software developers will still be developing games that work on the Xbone and PS4 for years, because the Neo and Scorpio are not going to have exclusive games. Well, the Scorpio won't, Phil Spencer did make that promise that your current Xbone will play all scorpio games... just not at 4k@60fps.
But if it's not as powerful as the Xbone or PS4.. it's another Wii U.
The success of the Wii, being a 6th gen console in the 7th gen, is not going to be repeated. The Wii U being a 7th gen console in the 8th gen just isn't working because of a lack of 3rd party support. At first, 3rd parties did make ports for the Wii U.. yeah.. 7th gen games came to the Wii U, but as developers moved onto the specs of 8th gen platforms, it got left behind.
Honestly, I don't think it will even be as powerful as the old Xbox One.
Nvidia's smartphone chips are not that strong.

Its not a rumor. Charlie at S|A got confirmation that Nintendo purchased massive quantities of new Pascal based Tegra chips. Several years ago S|A instituted a pay wall because other sites with unscrupulous clickbait writers do nothing but copy stories from other places. Its one big echo chamber. So combat that S|A makes you pay for access to premier articles. One writer from TweakTown who happens to be a subscriber ran the article on his own site, but wrote that it was a rumor because he couldn't blatantly reveal Charlie's insider info without being sued. In typical echo chamber fashion everyone else copied the TweakTown write up almost verbatim.
All that aside, its a confirmed fact.
and FYI they aren't intended for smartphones, Nvidia backed out of the mobile market several years ago because they couldn't compete. Now the Tegra line is used for things like car infotainment systems, self driving systems, ovens, and other desperate straw grasping gimmicks.
