A bro and sis from the real world I guess are teleported to fairytale world, which is a bunch of individual Final Fantasy universes. Based on the fact that Lightning knows what SeeDs are, it seems like the fairytale world is a bunch of FF worlds all combined into one world, unlike KH which has a bunch of separate worlds.
Its a traditional turn-based RPG, I guess it was made because FF hasn't had a ATB-like game for a while. SE did say the game is meant for younger ages, I hope that doesn't mean the game is piss easy. FF has always been fairly easy desu, but I'd hate for it to be even easier.

Yes. The way they spoke was intended by the developers. Ivalice's thing is to have games set in legend, the past. Muffled voices emulate that.
