Best ult in the game? It has to be either hers of Mercy's.
It's pretty fucking great, but you can't reliably demolish an entire team with it be itself like you can with a lot of offensive ults. There's just too many things that shut down her damage and prevent a followup even at very high charge. Reinhardt's shield, Genji reflecting bombs (which is the only way you're getting more than 1-2 kills in the ult), Zenyatta popping ult, even Winston's barrier.
Of course, it's a team game, so if you have anyone else at all there to help you it's practically guaranteed to kill everyone you trapped as long as Zenyatta doesn't counter ult in it.
It sure as hell is the most satisfying ult to deflect

No it's amazing for what it's supposed to do, which is not going on a killing rampage, but rather to stay on a point and distracting and knocking people away, creating chaos so your team can capitalize on it. Also if you use it near death you get instant 1000 hp which is fucking amazing if the enemy team already spent cooldowns trying to get you. And never underestimate the low cooldown leaps, which each deal 50 points of damage, and you can short leap while holding S to deal easy close range leap damage in an AOE.

Mercy POTGs were commonplace on Anubis 2nd point, because the ult could cover the entire point from spawn. It was genuinely one of the reasons Ults got changed around a bit, as was Reinhardt's.

I think Lucio's is all around better, but I don't think Zen's should be discounted. This is the current Overwatch competitive meta in a nutshell.
Instead of making another thread, I want to say this here.
This game is legitimately great, but where are the good maps?
Numbani and King's Row are narrow as shit.
Every area is just hallways and corridors with one side path to sneak around, an upstairs path and a few holes to hide in.
Hanamura is awkward with nice alternate paths but intentionally designed to choke you into one big room at the end where either the defence has all defense heroes or they're fucking dead.
Volskaya does this same concept way fucking better honestly, I LOVE the final cap on that map, though the area surrounding the first capture point is awful.
Route 66 has an identity and some flexibility but the last chokepoint is another shitty narrow hallway.
As far as I'm concerned, the only maps with great layout AND identity are Temple of Anubis, Dorado (barring the second capture point and that incredibly awkward staircase), and Illios which is the new god-king of KOTH maps.

Cap 1 and the indoor area leading to Cap 3 are frustrating to me.
Nothing is bad about them but the maneuverability in that indoor portion is great for some heroes and really chokes others to a few specific spots.
You won't see a Bastion or Widowmaker in any area but a very specific few positions here.
Then as the cart turns that corner, and you can see all the way to the capture area, the engagement distance is insanely long, like D-Day long.
None of this is terrible but it just continuously shifts the favor to a few heroes, as like you said, 3 different maps would do.
Cap 1 has some nice paths to sneak around and multiple doors to enter from the attacker side, but every area and path leading outwards to Cap 2 are still accessible besides the big doorway. This means that instead of a nice arena surrounding the point, there's an extra chunk of just useless turf surrounding that door.

I believe Winston is the best solo choice for friendless players.
You can do a lot to help out. Kill snipers, kill healers, kill squishies, hold back reinhardt, contest points all by yourself.
Stomping their healer until they get mad and angry at their team for not protecting them is like 90% of my wins as Winston.
He is also a great against shit McCree players because they all freak and fan the bubble and people seem to forget he exists when people bitch about Widow.
His ult is weak and there is always one faggot a day who seems to think you are bad for not killing an entire team with your ult but you can disrupt an entire organised push which is the main killer of pub games. Roadhog has a worse ult I think.

I rarely die more than twice per game. Next health kit is literally only 5 seconds away on each map. A lot of tracer players seem to be hellbent on kills though and would rather die than stay alive and pick their fights.
