Be honest, should I bother playing Dark Souls 2? I just finished 1 and loved it.

Ignore other people and form your own opinions. That said, I liked DS2. It's not my favorite Souls game, but it isn't as bad as everyone makes it out to be.

I have really mixed feelings about the game. I played the SOTFS edition (which generally seems to be accepted as superior and comes with the DLC) on PC, and while I enjoyed some things about it, I was terribly bored a lot of the time by the uninspired content and lack of direction. I felt like I was just going through level after level and boss after boss never getting invested in the world at all like I had in the first game.
There are some things I like about it but honestly 3 just completely blew it out of the water for me.
DS2's only problem outside of PvP tryhard shit is that it was kind of ugly.
Its a good game otherwise
Best game of the souls series. Best PvP as well. Dark Souls 3 has more difficult PvE but dark souls 2 has better animations and movesets for the weapons which makes it more fun.

Dark Souls 2 is great, I'd put it above3as of now. I put hundreds of hours in 1 and 2, but just can't seem to do the same with 3.
DaSo 2 had more memorable areas than DaSo 3 :^)

I've recently started replaying it, I'm having a lot of fun with it. Some of the boss fights are fucking hilariously fun. You should try it IMO

The combat and stuff is mostly the same, but the story is literally nonexistent; and the whole first part of the game is literally a waste of time lorewise.
There's 1 good boss in the game, and it's the second boss of the game.. There are a couple of okay bosses, but most of the "bosses" are weaker than regular enemies or barely even miniboss level.
But hey at least it has poise,stagger,and the coolest weapon in any of the games: the Drakekeeper Greataxeunlike 3.
2 is arguably the worst souls game to date. Skip it if you liked DaS1 and play DaS3, the true sequel.

Ehhhh. Base Gane I can never recommend. Only play the Scholar of the First Sin edition. And even then, if you liked the lore and general atmosphere of the first game then you'll more than likely hate the game or at least feel a bit disappointed the end. Play the first run blind and try to piece things together on your own then look up the lore of the 2nd game. Thats all I can really say

I beat the lost sinner on my first try.. it was one of the easiest bosses in the game.
The mirror knight was pretty cool, but he was not as challenging as the pursuer.

No friend, it's actually pretty good. It has the most content and definitely the most build diversity available.
Think of it like I do. Dark Souls 1 and Bloodborne are 5 star restaurants. They're top tier, amazeballs games. Dark Souls 2 is more like a really good buffet. It's not as tasty, it's not as good as that 5 star restaurant. But there's so fucking much of it, and you have so many options, that it can be fun in its own right to go to.
It's a solid game. It's not S tier like Dark 1/Bloodborne, but it's a good game.

It's a good game. IT has the best PvP (if you're into that, even though it took a billion patches to get to that point), and some good mechanics (that weren't adopted by DaS3 for reasons unknown)
its just that its level design is pretty bad for most areas, and that lifegems are stupid because nearly all enemes revolve around it, as in they have slow, sluggish, easily telegraphed moves. Also Soul Memory is a stupid retarded mechanic, but bonfire aesthetics and a NG+ beyond "more health, more damage" are nice.

Bloodborne was a blast. Wasn't too different of a game but it had enough changes from the usual formula to feel fresh, along with the change of scenery. I can't imagine many people are still playing the PVP though.
I'm near the end of DS3, and I'm enjoying myself more than I did in Bloodborne. The PVP is thriving of course because it's new.
Both are definitely worth getting to eventually, but I'd go for 3 first if I had to pick.

Out of the soulsborne series it is definitely the worst but for more nuanced reasons than "the game sucks."
In other words, its perfectly playable, you'll still get the souls experience out of playing it.

The way everyone feels about DS2 is how I feel about DS1. It started out good but gets to near Skyrim levels of repetitiveness. Once you place the Lordvessel shit gets real boring.
I just finished 1 about 2 weeks ago. Playing Ds2 now. It'll grow on you. It starts off shit but gets better.
Until you get to Frigid Outskirts and the two tigers. Then its just complete bullshit. It's not even fun it's just bullshit. Endless white field filled with electric horses that ram you from behind. Takes about 5 to 10 mins to run across to the boss and if you die you have to do it all over again. Lousy cheap design and difficulty. Considering quitting the game.

I just started playing the vanilla PS3 version yesterday and it's okay I guess. Story/lore stuff is pretty bland if not outright bad with the "ur gonna lose ur souls ober n ober XD" shit and it just feels kinda off, but I've put 8 hours into already so it's clearly doing something right.

About a month ago i finally finished Ds1. I hated it. Untill i played Ds2.
Ds2 starter areas are nice well layed out and very enjoyable. But about 40%-50% through the game, its very grating. I jsut want to go back and play ds1, ds2 becomes more and more shit with everystep i take. Its been resolving all grips i had with Ds1.
I would skip it.

Those areas were designed for multiplayer. Doing that, Gank Squad, or Blue Smelter solo is just asking to be raped.
