Fun fact, Valve was working on the actual "Counter-Strike 2" while they gave Hidden Path Entertainment the job of making the next Condition Zero-like CS game, as a bridge between Source and 2.
Valve ended up dropping the idea of making 2 separate CS games and just took over CS:GO from Hidden Path and made that into the new main CS game. (That was mostly the reason why the game was so abysmal during beta/early release, as it wasn't made by Valve).
And that's why the next DoD wouldn't be numbered 3, but 2 if anything. They don't skip numbers. Games with separate names have those names for a reason.

5 year coin is when you first played ANY CS game, not just CSGO.
Someone who's owned 1.6 since 2006 but doesn't own GO right now could buy it and instantly get the 5 year coin.
And if you seriously think the game was the same in the full 1 year after release to what it is now, then you simply don't know what you're talking about.
There's a reason why majority of pros instantly went back to playing 1.6 right as GO launched, because they fucking hated GO.
It took Valve a year to unfuck the game until everyone that's anyone finally carried over to GO.
