Hello, I'm retarded.
Can you guys explain to me what engines actually do for games? Like Unreal or Luminous. I hear them being said, but I have no idea what they are or what they actually do.
Unreal is a pre-built enviroment "language" that handles a lot of shit like lighting, physics, sound, scripting, animation, and shit, without the developers having to worry about coding every little bit of all of it themselves, they just have to put in the work to make Unreal do what they want it to do
This also means that since Unreal has been built to work across PC and multiple consoles, porting games to other consoles is a process that's almost ridiculously easy.
Unreal engine is just the base for the game. Say you took the code for Mario 64, changed the models maybe tweak the physics and button inputs and viola you have Ocarina of Time. Think of it like rpgmaker.
I assume the people who made UE made it open source which means that anyone can use it to make a game with copyrights up the ass.
What art style do you prefer /v/?
Post a picture and others help you what video game its like
first thing that came to mind was Yakuza 4, but I'm sure there's something more fitting
Akiba Strip 2
>Play Persona 4
>Play Persona 3
>Better characters and grills
Why did 4 get worse?
You're entitled to your opinion but I found the girls in 3 to be not that great sans Yukari and Aigis. I mean as characters, I was never into the whole waifuism thing that most of the Persona fandom seems obsessed with. The guys steal the show for me when it comes to the P3 cast.
Chie and Yukiko are like the Rosencrantz and Guildenstern of Persona. They're virtually interchangeable and just "there". Naoto's entire gimmick is not being a girl. That's how shit she is.
Rise is pure Japanese romance fantasy where some slutty popular idol just happens to come to you're town falls in love with you. But she's still the only decent character by a landslide by elimination.
What happened /v/?
What went wrong after 2007?
Fuck everything I took the pic and the thread died
I started subscribing in the early 90's, and even then, their over-hyped reviews towards Nintendo were shady as fuck.
Everytime a new console was released, they would praise the AAA games for it.
Gaming pre-2007 was still a relatively niche thing. Looking at it now it's weird because pretty much everything started going downhill after 2007, from the Internet to the economy to society/culture itself. 2008 onward is a depressing blur to me, it barely even feels real.
Is 2007 the year everything went wrong for gaming?
>the rise of social media.
>the birth of the Iphone
>Bazinga, such a nerd XD, nerdy is hip
>the rise of casual gaming
>the rise of PC fanboyism
>praise GabeN, Valve fanboys
>the rise of DLC
Yes. I'd say even began a year or two before that.
Post your favorite games, essential lists, god tier games for gba to emulate
anyone up for some late night worlds exploration?
You just rolled a critical hit, /v/!
What's your line?
Ask a person who had a business meeting and corporate lunch with Hideo Kojima today anything
>Hey this guy is actually kind of cool
Aaaaand fucking dropped. The one interesting character in this game and they go and do THAT. Unbelievable.
Why do indie devs think we LIKE this cringey meme shit? I think there was also a pepe frog poster too.
There was an interesting article about this a couple years back
The devs regretted putting them in after the response it got. Now the game is only known for all its memes and nothing else. It was all at the suggestion of this one staff member who really loved memes and convinced the rest of them to put them in the game.
I don't think they'll be doing that again.
SOMEBODY ANNIHILATE THIS STUPID THING
>enjoyed and rarely took breaks during 7 & 8
>find myself dread for the next kupo to save game and exit
What gives? Isn't this supposed to be the best of the PS1 Trilogy? What must I do to truly enjoy this game compared to the rest?
