It's close
>I'm going to bring your magnificent vengeance to fruition, just as you want it.
Seriously, what happened? How did it turn out to be so lifeless? I can think of two things that would've made this game great. Yet, there's so much missing or poorly handled ideas, that it just doesn't make any sense.
Could this be the biggest blunder of a game developer in history?
Video games are the biggest blunder in human history.
>>332253497
developers underestimated how fast players could go through content

>"Video games were a mistake."

Is pacing the single most underrated element a video game can posess? Look at Binding of Isaac for example - it's tedious as hell to explore the floor and go back and forth through rooms, especially when most of the game devolves into a skinner box simulation. But on the other side, game takes several seconds to go from double click to start playing. Most developers neglect that the game should start near-instantly in order for the player not to feel dread if he wants to continue and endure several minutes of logos, menus and loading screens. Even if the graphics need to...

Maybe. People keep trashing MW2's campaign for having a ridiculous story or for being four hours long but compared to other CoD campaigns and compared to most modern shooters, its pacing is superb and I never see anyone give it due credit.
I don't think it's a big deal, but since you mentioned developer/publisher/etc. logos, CoD games are among the very few multiplatform games where they're all skippable. Recent games even allow you to choose which menu the game will immediately load upon starting, whether it's the campaign, multiplayer or zombies menu.

Yes, definitely. Poor pacing is absolutely what killed The Last of Us for most of /v/.
In the beginning it's boring and slow and just all around dull. There's no denying that. Then later on the pacing is absolutely perfect. It oscillates from high tempo to low tempo so precisely you could set a clock to it.
However, most people who hate the game quite fairly quit less than halfway in because it doesn't get really good until Fall.
>>332253437
It's padding, and when I play a game nowadays, I don't want to 'waste time' (get it? video games, not wanting to waste time?) but so many get it wrong.
I'm used to Super Meat Boy, where I fuck up, click the button I'm already mashing to restart, and I restart within a second or two. Let me practice and get good
What did he mean by this?
>>332252530
Professor Oak never asked you this in one of the 8-bit games.
What is this shenanigans?

Yes he does.
What's the best game for autistic people to play all day to distract from my loneliness? It can be single or multiplayer.
>>332251657
Dont know. When you figure it out let me know.
Nothing. Life is garbage and so are you.
>>332251657
Not autistic but depressed, i love Factorio and replay it often when out of stuff to do
Which of the three was the best sequel? Think in terms of new mechanics it brought to the table - whether good or bad - how they compare to their predecessors, and how they improved or did not improve over them.
Voodoo Vince conquered them all
Going commando definitely improved over the prequel in every way, sly 2 was really good but was a bit more repetitive than the previous, jak 2 i think is the worst naughty dog jak games honestly, there was alot of bullshit in the mission structure and the driving controls were abysmal.
>>332250473
Sly 2 was great, and I played it religiously. I still think it's the best in the series.
I played the hell out of Demons Souls and Dark Souls, but I haven't played Dark Souls 2 yet, because I've been waiting for the price to go down.
Should I play Dark Souls 2 or just skip to Dark Souls 3?
>>332248779
3 isn't even out yet faggot, just play 2 while waiting.
>>332248779
Dark souls 2 wasn't a BAD game.
It was bad if you're directly comparing it to the other souls games, but in the grand scheme of things it was alright.
ask yourself this faggot
do you wanna fit in
or do you wanna play a fucking video game
Why are there two homing attacks that function basically the same and mostly serve the same purpose?
>>332248265
Because sega has no idea what their doing at this point. Hell it could be argued that they never knew what to do at all.
>>332249281
Even by the low standards of Sonic this has to be one of the most incompetent platformers I've ever played. I don't even know why there's a run button since you have it glued down all the time because walking is worthless in nearly every situation, even precise platforming.
>>332248265
Because VARIETY
It added so much more depth to the gameplay to require you to think about which homing attack type you needed to use to kill a certain enemy
I especially liked the part where I spent over half of the game not realising the second homing attack did anything different and wasted an entire set of lives trying to use the regular homing attack on those spiders at different timings thinking it would do something different
Time to school all the kiddies in this board. Get them ready for Dark Souls 3.
Dark Souls is the single deepest, most challenging, most skill-based game ever created. There is not a single other game in any genre that comes close to the level of skill Dark Souls requires.
This is why Dark Souls threads are the best, most intelligent threads on /v/. Only the smartest, brightest, and most patient people post in them. Essentially, the very best of humanity posts in them.
Conversely, the only people who don't like Dark Souls clearly don't have the...

I will post this in every thread that claims GOTY and remind them that they are wrong.
Also, La-mulana is harder than all of the souls games.
>>332248412
I actually didn't have much trouble with the early game La Mulana. Easy until I got through three worlds without there being a single thing I could interact with. I'm sure it gets tougher late game but I can't be bothered.

By some circumstances that are too convoluted to explain, I've recently come into possession of a Playstation 4.
Im a huge Nintendo fan because Nintendo games are generally a little more innovative in concept (when they decide to roll with a new concept), but provided these new circumstances I'm a little lost.
What games would you recommend a Nintendo fan play in transition to the PS4.
If it helps at all, my favorites are the Pikmin series, Luigi's Mansion, Super Mario Galaxy, any and all Legend of Zelda..
Back when I had a PS2, I really...

You should have gotten a PS3.
That said Bloodborne if you like Zelda, and Digimon Cyber Sleuth if you like Pokemon.
Also get the remasters of PS3 games like Last of Us, Uncharted collection, and GoW collection.
>>332246314
Yeah it was something that happened with work. There was a raffle that a bunch of my friends and I entered and we ended up winning the PS4, then there was this big fight about who was going to keep it and no one could agree, so they gave it to me I guess because I was the least involved in the fight, so people just come to my place to play it now.
Which is fine, I just figured since I have it I may as well find some things for it that are more up my ally. Thanks for the list, I'll look into these.
there's a new Ratchet and Clank coming out in 2 weeks for 40dollaroos
Or 30 bucks if your an Amazon prime kike
>there once was a time where catching all "150" Pokemon was the pinnacle of Pokemon achievement
>722 Pokemon now
Blink and before you know it, we'll be at 1000.
Do you feel old yet, anon? The Pokemon thing was just an example. Will you still be playing games at 60+? Will you ever "retire" from them? What of the old, good games? Even the best of them'll be forgotten, only played by us.
It's good to feel nostalgic, dont get it mixed with sadness.
>choosing charmander
Faggot confirmed
Mewthree and Mewfour confirmed for 1500 and 1510.
Took them 20 years to make 721 pokemon. We'll probably get to 100 in another 10
So, which house would have the most fun gameplay?
Ravenclaw, because you'd be away from the autists in the other three.

study hall: the game
Slytherin would make for great survival horror since half the people there are Psychopaths
Anita Sarkeesian is coming to my school in a couple of weeks. Any suggestions on what I should do?
Also, Dubs control my life.
Unm. Pretty sure /hm/ is for MEN!
