The question is what target audience you want. Wii was successful for casuals that don't normally play video games. Problem is those people are on their phones. There has been more of a social push in consoles, but we can go further.
The gimmick is next level AI. AI that beats Cortana, and helps you with games, and you can play games with it.

how do I learn how to play AoE II online?
is it as demanding and autistic as BW and SC2 or can I play it a lot more relaxed? Where can I learn the Meta and all of that?
I want to like it, but it's just so hard to know what to do if you don't have someone telling what to do and why.

This. The first was my favourite game of last gen and I had no idea this is out. There were hardly any streams, what there was were 12 year olds and it looked shit.
I was hoping the first game would be much more atmosphere and puzzle oriented. It was a bit of a shame, I'm guessing this wasn't either?
